Common sense as a definite unmoveable thing does not exist. Onlythe moral value instilled upon you by societal influence. Just because we all THINK it's fucked up and wrong does not necessarily mean it is. I don't agree with arranged marriage, and I certainly don't agree with a 47 year old man marrying an 8 year old, but if the environment and society they are living in is acceptant of that, so be it. I do think the opinions on these things are changing though, and there are certainly people fighting for change in the middle east just like the woman in the video. It's only a matter of time. With globalization increasing at a rapid rate, western influence is taking over the views of the world's population.. That's just the way it is. That's not saying that it is the way the universe intended it. I can sort of understand why theres so many people in the middle east who HATE US with every ounce of their being. I'm pretty sure that's all DWB was trying to say.
It's just strange how the world works. Think of it this way. If there was no word for "rape" or "incest" or "pedophilia" or anything like that, and everyone fucked their kids. Do you think their children would be mentally scarred or damaged people? I don't think so. The kids whose parents DIDN'T rape them would be sitting in therapy crying to a shrink wondering why daddy didn't fuck them. Obviously that's not the way the world works, and obviously we as a group agree this is wrong, but 100 years ago you would have been shunned from society for being homosexual too. Who'd have thought back then that gay people would parade down the streets? Nature certainly didn't intend people to be homosexual.
Everybody is gonna hate on me for using this example, but throw your preconceived notions about the idea out the window and consider it that way, as though that were the accepted way of the world. It is an extreme example of course, but it is a perfect one I think. Society dictates beliefs, NOT THE REALITY OF OUR EXISTENCE. Sometimes you need to use a shocking example to get that point across.
