Usernames, e-mails and passwords of hundreds of thousands of accounts leaked on the Internet The project website of one of the most popular open source bulletin boards, phpBB, has suffered a major security breach that has resulted in the exposure of 400,000 e-mail addresses. This article is very misleading at first glance. I read it earlier and immediately thought phpbb (the software) was hacked.
It is actually phplist that has a vulnerability. They released a patch for this on January 29. If you are running PHPLIST make sure you get it updated. |

the hack was done by exploiting a third party addon script. phpbb3 is secure but just like Microsoft Windows majority of the hacks are done through 3rd party crap
