And now it's all over the internet. Content protection ftw.

I'm not so sure what's cool about it?

You mean the fact that they are doing it?

the fact that many here are always looking for ways to make it harder for people to right click save as on a image, thats all

It's cool because it just doesn't right click on an image and there's no stupid popup. What kind of popup do you ask? Right click on this site http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/

But this doesn't work, as evidenced by this thread.

Slightly more reliable method: use javascript to document.write the img code. That way, they actually have to go look at source code. If you want to make it even harder, that's also possible, though it requires a minute or two of coding.

Of course, it breaks functionality for a relatively small number of surfers - although you can simply inform those in noscript tags that they need to enable javascript.

Jesus. What fucking incompetence. It doesn't even manage to disable right-clicks in Firefox.

OMFG...hahahaha...what a fucking moron!

I don't even have to do anything remotely special to save it on Opera.

A few years back though, when you tried to save them (also on Opera) you only got a spacer gif... I remember looking on the source and it being tricky as well, don't know if they downgraded or opera just got sneakier.

haha, not to mention that fubar doesnt even stop you from right clicking, they just make it slightly annoying when you do.

Btw, for those interested in fucking with the surfer's ability to easily save images a bit more efficiently, the easiest thing to do is to write a javascript function that accepts a code as input, then outputs the filename based on that. Even just using rot13, it would be sufficient to stop 99% of all surfers. Of course, you still need separate code to stop the right-clicks.

Oh, and don't think for even a second that you'll ever truly stop determined surfers from saving stuff. You merely increase the time it takes them to get it a slight bit, while inevitably breaking some functionality for others.
