Why doesn't this industry take a prominent stand against sexual exploitation?

Everybody knows by now that the sex industry is often associated with things like sex trafficking, forced prostitution, etc.

Now, having worked in adult for over a decade, I know for a fact that a vast majority of the people in this industry are strongly opposed to such things. At the same time, however, the industry does virtually nothing to combat it.

So... why? Why doesn't the adult entertainment industry have its own organization that raises awareness of the issue, while at the same time taking a pro-sex stand?

It would be a great way to raise the public image of the industry, and at the same time do some good in the world.

I know. So, why don't we do something then?

With a group of people volunteering just a bit of time, it should be easy to set up a site stating our position, giving some basic info on the issue, listing companies that support the initiative, and suggesting local charities for people who want to take action.

Why doesn't the industry take a stand against issues that are hurting it?

Troll you? I couldn't care less about you. I have probably called you an idiot a few times, but well, that was because you made idiotic statements.

Anyway, let's move back to the subject at hand.

The industry's negative image is hurting it. Most people think the adult industry is filled with criminal scum. That makes it extremely easy for politicians to fuck us any way they want, and it makes our industry taboo in a non-productive way.

A simple example. By enhancing our public image, we would make it more acceptable for porn to show up on credit card statements.

You like the fact that women from third world countries are brought to wealthy countries and forced into prostitution under threat of death? That children in numerous countries are sold to brothels and get raped by hundreds if not thousands of men until they finally die of AIDS?

This 'industry' can't come together on anything.

1. Content theft.
2. 2257 consensus.
3. Business practices.
4. Copyright enforcement.
5. .XXX agreement.

...and countless other things effecting our bottom line.

No offense to Libertine, but if we can't handle the shit directly effecting us. The novelties are not even on the radar.

Of course I don't like it....That's not the type of exploitation that I'm talking about...I'm talking about exploiting a woman for PROFIT...I have no need to hurt a woman to do that.

Even so, there isn't shit I can do about it anyway.

2, 4 and 5 are all directly related to our public image.

And the nice thing about an issue like this is that nearly everyone in the industry has the same position. Virtually all of us think pornography and prostitution should be legal, but only if it solely involves consenting adults.

See? Even people in this very industry still believe that porn equals forced prostitution and sex trafficking.

I agree with you bud.

My faith in the 'industry', that is so divided on many different things, to come together on ANY issue is a long shot.

no group would ever take a dime or a second of help from the adult industry. next.

I think it would be a "negative association thing" where the industry even bringing it up and publicizing it would only bring negative thoughts toward the industry as a whole, even though it may only be a very very small percentage problem in reality, by taking a public stand it may put the issue into the public's mind where they assume that it is a high percentage problem in the industry :2 cents:

Then you're obviously misguided....Not including some niche's...Nobody is assuming that women were trafficked and sold into slavery to produce american porn...that's ridiculous...

If they are, fuck em.

How about we throw in world peace while we're at it.

Actually, lots of people assume things like that about "the porn industry". Just like many people don't realize that there is a HUGE line between the adult entertainment industry and cp, and that the two have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Remember, not only are people idiots, a vast majority of them also know absolutely *nothing* about this industry. Hell, half the world thought the BangBus was real... that should be a pretty big clue about just how ignorant the average person is about how this industry works.
