WTF was all that hype about?

Ii thougt it was terrible.

I liked it, but I saw it before all the hype started, so all I expected was a Bollywood style fairytale, which is what it was....

I saw it. Love the cinematography and story structure. It adequately (but imperfectly) captured the sense of community and life within slums. My mother grew up in such a slum in Manila and her stories and my travel there years later shows a reality far more nuanced than the typical Oxfam/World Relief/Bono shit usually seen on TV. It's more real and complicated than that. Slumdog Millionaire is one of the few films that are able to do that. I highly recommend this movie. It's gripping pace, it's narrative structure, it's topical diversity (from the real pain of religious intolerance to Third World celebrity worship to slum life to the use of beggars to hustling to the bond between brothers and lost love), and its imagery make for a compelling package. At the very least, it makes for a great escape. At deeper levels, it makes you see past surfaces and realize a few things about human cultural connection, commonality, and resilience.

I didn't think it was as great as all the hype also,

but I still thought it was a good movie.. definitely did not suck ass.

I got it on DVD here... Going to watch it later or so.

Not sure if it still is in the theaters.....

You would probably need to see it pretty quick... Great movie imo.

Great movie

I enjoyed it... didn't think it was worthy of a movie of the year nomination or anything, but certainly an interesting story, and a well made flick.

As an Indian I hated it, just a movie to please the whitefolks.....just like yoga

I went into it expecting not to like it, and thus was pleasantly surprised. Thought it was pretty interesting how everything was pieced together, and great example, if only a small glimpse into, a culture I would love to learn more about.

Where there's hype there's disappointment.

Myself, I think the film is a continuing example of Boyle's incredible directing flexibility.

I thought it was good, so was grand torino.

I wasn't going to watch it because of the story...kids from the slum with no education,but I knew I can't judge a movie for that,or a person. I watched it and I really enjoyed it.
