Members Newsletters - HTML or Text?
 

We send out newsletters to our expired and canceled members every month or so giving them special offers to rejoin. I did an estimate and around 80% of our members use a free browser-based email service such as yahoo, gmail, hotmail, msn, etc.. The majority of these services are set by default not to show images until the user clicks to show them. This begs the question, how many will click to view the images and is it better to just send the newsletter as text and know that they will see your message the way you want them to?

Those that send newsletters out, do you get better results from text or HTML?

I do mainstream and get good results with text. A lot of it is HOW you write it and WHAT you write as opposed to formatting. (just my 2c)
