Licensed content - how does it work?

I have been offered some license deals for some of my photo content.
I own the content 100%, some have been published in glamour magazines worldwide but never been sold or licensed for web use.

How does it work for me? Does a license have a validation period? or only valid for named domain etc?

Would love to hear from content producers/ content brokers with more information on this type of transaction.

Bump for interesting question.

Typically when someone buys a license its perpetual, if someone told me I could only use content for 5 yrs I would never buy it. Typically its for 10 domains or unlimited domains but that is up to you, the owner of the content.

You can negotiate anything you want into a licence. Basically whatever you can both agree on.

Here's a sample of the one I use: Sample Licence

from my experience i can tell that starting your own shop in this time might not be the best idea. it can take a while till its profitable and i don't know how much content you have available. i would suggest going with a broker like Dready right in this thread or photorama.nl or maybe Jack (notime) too. (do you broker, Jack?)

will save you some headaches

I let people use content on unlimited domains for unlimited period of time. That is the only way to go.

It varies by provider.

Some do/not allow

-Unlimited time
-Tube Sites
-Clip Stores
-VOD
-DVD
-You never own originals
-No resale
-Affiliate use

etc..

There are many other factors I have seen in differences between my license, and others.

i can be contacted at xvidguy at yahoo
but i am not really looking for a "store" or broker, least not at the moment.
i was contacted by a decent size online program who are interested in licensing already shot content from me. i am sure they contacted others as well..
most of my own content i sell to a few magz only, i dont believe in selling web non-exclusive least not at this point, future might be different though.
