1 oyster can filter 48 gallons of water a day!
Pretty amazing stuff huh?
I'm not sure I'd drink it but yes, amazing.
if you want fishy water
i'm pretty sure if i was a sehllfish with nothing bette to do all day than filter water, i could probably filter a good share too...
That makes me happy.
damn, I can filter only 1 gallon per day tops
:( |
they must like themselves some salt
So what exactly are they filtering? Are they actually cleaning the water or are they filtering the water for food? What is the end result?
if they are removing toxins, pollution etc, in the process that is really amazing
You're going to need a bigger boat
Cool stuff indeed. Makes you think also of how many heavy metals and impurities people from countries where people consume mostly seafood ingest.
They're filter feeders I think. So they're filtering krill and other tiny monsters. And surrounding grit with pearl makin' juice.
Yeah, natural systems are amazing. Plus, oysters taste great :)
