If I did this, with emails, would I be 'spamming'? (NO POO)

Opened my little niche fetish site site last month. Feb 1st... its NOT A 'MEMBERS' site... People 'pay-per-download' One off fee of ?7.99 via verotel...

Obviously, whenever they make a purchase, verotel sends me details of the purchase, along with the email address...

When I update the site with a new video available on the first of the month, would it be considered 'bad form' to send an email to previous purchasers with details of the latest video, a direct link and a few 'exclusive' photos attached?

I know that if I did, Id assume Id have to offer an 'unsubscribe' link... Or maybe put some verbiage on the site saying 'If you purchase, I'll send you an email a month, regarding the latest updates? Or... Is there something in the Verotel t&c's that allows me to use that email?

Or, am I over thinking it? Or trying to be 'too correct'?

At first, I'd simply be using a 'Blind Carbon Copy' method of sending... Not an 'email service'... And I'd ONLY be promoting my OWN site... The one they have purchased from...

Its obvious to me that theres a third answer, which is 'Its wrong, but fuck it, do it anyway... In the economy we need every penny' etc...

But... I wanna start out 'The right way'...

I currently have between 150 / 170 unique emails... (As some people have purchased multiple times on the same email) but this amount will obviously get bigger as I begin to really promote the site, which I haven't really begun to do 'properly' yet...?

I think It will not be spam, but better option is to you put check box on singup page "I want to reciver updates via email" ,that is checked by default of course

You need to have an opt-in if you're going to send people email. Preferably a double opt-in.

That wouldn't be spamming if they purchased from you site and include a unsubscribe link.

I don't think that would be considered compliant as they haven't opted into your mailing list. i'd suggest putting an optin box somewhere on the site where everyone can see it. get not only paying users, but anyone to opt in to the list. then send out a weekly mailing listing your updates or whatever. have them double opt, and always offer them an unsubscribe link.

Just do it. Everyone mails paying members. If you get complaints (which you won't) modify your practice. Otherwise, rape as many $ as you can. Spam laws are hardly enforced for a reason, the Government wants businesses to make money!

as long as you offer an opt-out link, you shouldn't have any problems.
