Any experience with factory refurbished electronics?
Got a good deal on an Optoma HD DLP projector for my basement. Regular price is around $1200 plus tax around here, but they had the refurbished ones on sale this week for $549.
They supposedly come right from the factory, resealed and with all manuals, cords, etc. Also comes with a new lamp. Did I just throw my money away, or is a factory refurbished product not a bad idea? I couldn't resist at less then half the cost of a new one. Should be able to do a 120 inch screen with this sucker, (if it works) |
Should be ok if it came with some kind of warranty.

I think only 30 days on the lamp, and 90 days on the projector itself. Hopefully if it breaks, it does it as soon as I turn it on.

Also for a pj, check the lamp hours and the cost of a replacement bulb. Some are more costly than the pj themselves. |
So long as there's some kind of warranty I have no issue with Refurbs if the price is right.

Did you know if your new hard drive fails (or even if it's been a year or two) the manufacturer replaces it with a refurbished drive? I presume these are bits and pieces from returned failed drives that are within tolerance that are put back together.
I have 4 refurb Seagate drives all showing errors... they are crap... |
