Russel Crowe's bailout solution on Leno... You might like it

Russel Crowe says to Leno -- "Assuming there's what, 300 million people in the USA? Okay, what you do is give each person in the country... a million dollars."

lol

I like it. Seriously, dumping 800 billion into the economy in HOPES that it does the job and kickstarts it, OR... taking a mere 300 mill (give or take), a paltry sum by comparisson, and just giving a million to each and every US citizen. Houses would be bought (and built), cars bought, businesses started, money invested, bank accounts fattened,... all in the blink of an eye.

It's brilliant. :1orglaugh :pimp :D :thumbsup

Of course some assholes here are ready to jump all over me with their so-called "reality" and a pagelong diatribe about why it wouldn't work ---- well save it, keep it, shove it. I have a lot of friends and family in the US who would become instant millionaires so just shut your holes and let me enjoy my fantasy. You pricks know who you are, armchair economists every one of you!! ha ha

check your math again, :-)

commonsense 03-05-2009 05:59 AM

$300,000,000,000,000

300 Trillion Dollars

StuartD 03-05-2009 05:59 AM

Heh, giving 300 million people $1 would be $300 million.
Giving 300 million people $1,000,000 would be $300,000,000,000,000.

Would be .... uhm.... costly.

Well it's not MY math, it's his. But let's see....

Obama's stim package: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/firs...s-legislation/ -- 787 billion (okay I rounded up to 800, shoot me)

US population: http://www.census.gov/population/www/popclockus.html -- Just shy of 306 million.

What's your problem BV? Has one of us not had enough coffee this morning?

eh, a trillion, 300 trillian... when you're into that kind of debt what does it matter.

Maybe Canada could afford it, we only have 30 million here. :winkwink:

Idiots like that are the reason America is failing and turning to socialism. :2 cents:

pornguy 03-05-2009 06:30 AM

OK. So lets say not 1 million each. How about 250k.. It would work out to about the same as they have give their friends.. Er.. The failing businesses.

That's priceless.

Quagmire 03-05-2009 06:34 AM

Funny and sad at the same time that they let corporations get so large and powerful that they have to bail them out to save the economy.

So much for the American dream and being able to sink or swim on your own merit...

slapass 03-05-2009 06:52 AM

700 billion bailout divided by 300 million people is 2,300 each. Get your hand out as the US govt is about to give you a ten year old Hyundai or the biggest screen tv you can fit in your rec room. Live the Dream!

Hazlewood 03-05-2009 07:07 AM

maybe just cut taxes to give people some breathing room. would stimulate the economy and promote spending and circulation.

These socialist solutions are great if you are born in a country that posseses these values. but to have thousands of americans die for freedom, liberty, and free markets and then try and do things the opposite when shit hits the fan is not a good solution.

the united states needs to cut back on taxes and get back to the fundamentals. When a baseball player gets in a slump, he doesnt completely do the opposite. The hitting coach gets him back to the fundamentals of hitting. Same should be applied to the economy.

I know im canadian and we are a social democracy but I am also a business owner who believes in the free market and capitalism.

Hazlewood 03-05-2009 07:13 AM

Ron Paul should be the fuckin president to clean up that joke down south. He is a REAL American.

John-ACWM 03-05-2009 07:29 AM

:1orglaugh they should start printing those money

agree but he cant give good speeches and that seems more important to the hipsters/bloggers and stinksters that became the deciders for everything

PlugRush Sascha 03-05-2009 07:36 AM

Haha, this thread is fucking great.

Twistys Tim 03-05-2009 07:37 AM

It is that kind of thinking (or lack of) that got us into this pickle to begin with.

300,000,000 x $1,000,000 = $300,000,000,000,000

(Oh look, there's twistys Tim. ha ha)

I can't believe I even have to spell that out.

I understand.

So hey, what are you going to do with your million? :D

pornguy 03-05-2009 08:01 AM

Joke or not, the money would have been better spent giving it to the people. The banks and businesses are sitting on it, Giving a FEW their bonuses for running the companies into the ground, and thast it.

Had they sent me a check for 2500 I would have used it as a deposit on a new truck. Or clothes for my kid or something.

I like Ron Paul but if he was president nothing would get done. They wouldn't let his agenda go thru on either side.
