Who's Using An HP Notebook - Is This A Good Price?

Time for a new computer. I'm looking at getting an HP notebook and just hooking it up to my 22" samsung synmaster while I'm working at home.

Was thinking of getting:

- PentiumŪ Dual-Core Mobile Processor T3200.
- 3GB RAM
- 320GB HD

and its got wireless, webcam, HDMI, all that stuff for $649.99.

I couldn't find it at futureshop or bestbuy to compare.

What do you think decent deal?

d-null 03-07-2009 09:06 PM

how can you go wrong with that?

Looks like a good deal. I'm using an HP DV6426us and a 22" sceptre lcd. Makes for good werkin'

Don't buy HP, I purchased two and wasted money. Hardware troubles start popping up within 4-5 months.

There's two XP laptops in my household. I don't use either of them. Both are running Vista (bleck). One is a 17 inch Pavilion dv9500t (Oct 2007), the other is a 15 inch Pavilion dv6000t (May 2007). Both ended up over $1000 each with upgraded graphics cards, and the like.

The 17 inch went back to HP for major repair (motherboard went) in late November of 2008. Just one month out of warranty. Was $350 to fix it.

Oh and the 22 inch Samsung... if it's a T220 and you haven't already gotten it... don't. I've done some research on them. They can have major backlight bleed and issues with color calibration. If you get one with the TN panel made by Samsung it's usually good. If you get one from CMO it's likely to have the white bleed around the edges.

From what I was reading you can figure out the maker of the panel by the serial number.
X-xxxxxxxAx-xxxx: Samsung panel.
X-xxxxxxxLx-xxxx: AU Optronics panel.
X-xxxxxxxDx-xxxx: CMO panel.
X-xxxxxxxIx-xxxx: CPT panel.

If it's a newer 2233BW that you have, none of the panels were made by Samsung. There is a way to figure out which panel maker you have, through a menu by setting brightness to 0, set contrast to 0, click menu button, hold source button for a few seconds. There will be a version number displayed. Versions BAa 1001, BAA 1002, BAD 1001 are the best ones.

If you've got neither of them.. then forget everything I just wrote :)

22" is awsome for that price.

I already bought the monitor 2 months ago with my PimpRoll gift cards :) As for the model it says 2253LW (2ms - 8000:1) and I picked up for $200 CND tax in so it was a good deal. I really like it so far. Sure beats the 19" Acer I was using before.

Doesn't include the 22" monitor :1orglaugh
Now that would be a sweet deal.
