Wow.. Opera fucked up, Firefox useless.. forced to use IE...
Installed the new version of Opera 9.64 and it's fucked some javascript things and also doesn't even load some pages forcing you to do a reload in order to view it... Firefox opens "popups" in a full window... So basically both browsers are useless for work applications and I'm forced to use IE... These guys have got to realize that the future of browsers is WORK APPLICATIONS where we expect the same type of functionality (multiple windows, modal windows etc.) as our desktop apps..

I believe there's something in options for popups on firefox.

That's the direction development is taking. Look at Gmail, Gtalk and Google Docs to see some early examples. It's the whole point of Ajax - turning a single page into an entire application. |

Was wrong about firefox... I had overridden a setting and it was preventing the true popups.. Now I can't remember why I had overridden that setting but it had something to do with some pages opening in a completely new firefox instead of in a tab. |

You're right about it being much less efficient than browser functionality, though. On the other hand, simply integrating it into a single webpage creates more versatility. For example, if you want a window that stays on top even when the one beneath it is focused, separate browser windows are pretty much out. |
Damn. I never thought I'd ever see the terms FIREFOX and "useless" in the same sentence...

Looking for a slim, fast browser?
Chrome. http://www.google.com/chrome/ Best browser I've ever used. Looking for a Firefox contender, with the ability to change *anything*? Maxthon2 http://www.maxthon.com/ This browser beats the crap out of firefox in speed, footprint and functionality. It's sad that it's not known by everyone - but with that said, every dev I know uses it because it's debugging features are of the hook. Hell, it even has - Page debugging / consoles built in - Page screenshot/cap tools built in - Adblocker built in - URL sniffers for youtube etc - hotkeys for URLS - custom urls [type gfy to go direct to gfy, etc] - rss feed reader - online favourites - mouse gestures - form filler - and plugins, and filters and security updates. and it still runs lighter and faster than ff :) |
IE still rocks.. if you disable all the addon "including google toolbar" (bloated piece of crap) IE runs smooth
