Does anyone actually have the rights to GF,myspace, self shot pictures?

I see people using those myspace, facebook, girlfriend, self shot pictures everywhere, and i'm wondering if they actually own the rights to use them or whether they are just using them.

I mean a lot of this stuff has to be stolen, there is just no way.

LiveDose 03-09-2009 08:29 PM

Most of it is stolen.

Libertine 03-09-2009 08:30 PM

The people who own the rights are the people who created them.

So people just pick and choose what they like and use it with no problems?

Diomed 03-09-2009 08:32 PM

I need to find someone who has a chunk of that type of content legally,

I mean can you buy it anywhere?

potter 03-09-2009 08:39 PM

have you seen the 2257 pages on most of those sites? the shit is a joke. eventually someone is going to get in big big trouble.

They steal what they like and use it without problems because the copyright holders are typically individuals instead of companies and are thus unlikely to find out and sue.

Still, it's most definitely copyright infringement.

Start a new thread asking around. I think someone was looking for this content a few weeks back and some of the producers posted links to am/gf content they offered.

Do you think that if there was the case of a proper lawsuit against a big site by one of the affected individuals, could this set a precedent so that such sites would go down easily?

Because I've seen people I know on such sites, they're not in the industry, and I'm not in touch with them... but it's a possibility :helpme

The ones that crack me up are the photos of a few girls together, like a group self shot at a party or something and the site photoshops a huge facial on all of them.

Poor kids.

bdld 03-09-2009 10:15 PM

nobody has the rights to them, never heard of anyone getting in trouble for it either.

fuzebox 03-09-2009 10:35 PM

I'm sure the content owners can feel free to DMCA the sites hosting it, who probably don't monitor what their users upload :)

I sell legal GF stuff, hit me up.

The original photographer has the only copyright to the picture.

so you're saying that you can take a photo of anyone and use it whatever way you please? :)

This may be the case in self shot pictures, but if there is more than one girl involved, the person publishing them could get in trouble if the other person (or people) in the photo doesn't agree with the form of use.

Basically, the original photographer has the right to publish/use a photo IF he has a signed model release form.
