So Sublime is getting back together?

Already hit up my peeps to see about booking them for the Players Ball on June 4th, Vegas, XBiz.

I found a bunch of videos with their new lead singer "Rome".

Our first Players Ball we had Long Beach Dub Allstars perform and they did a Sublime set and a Long Beach Dub set back in 1999, Club Utopia, Vegas. The closest thing to having Sublime since Brads death.

As a fan, I'm excited to see back.

TheSenator 03-09-2009 11:21 PM

well....it will never be the same...

That's awesome. I don't know if it will ever be the same though. Like trying to bring back your dead dog, they prolly just doing it for money anyways which i don't blame them for doing for one second.

Reunion (2009)
On February 26, 2009, the surviving members of Sublime announced they would be reuniting on February 28th at Cantino Los Tres Hobres in Nevada.[3][8] On March 1, 2009, Gaugh's current band Del Mar insisted in their MySpace blog entry that the Cantino Los Tres Hobres gig was indeed a Sublime reunion and revealed that the band's new singer and guitarist is Rome.[9] In regards to the band's future, Sublime has no "firm tour plans or anything yet".

Deej 03-09-2009 11:26 PM

I like the idea, but like most others will say... I dont know if it will hit the same chord...

NaughtyRob 03-09-2009 11:26 PM

If you ever want to see a good Sublime tribute band, see Badfish, they are awesome.

D-Money 03-09-2009 11:29 PM

Of course it wouldn't be the same. It would still be awesome to see the live show.

munki 03-09-2009 11:34 PM

That would make for a pretty sick player's ball

yeah i guess tribute will be the best!! :thumbsup

I contacted Badfish too. Excellent covers of Sublime. I'd be happy with them as well.

I'm still gonna try for Sublime if it's possible. As a big Sublime fan, I don't think they need to record a new album under that name. But still, if they want to jam at a Players Ball, go for it!

donkevlar 03-09-2009 11:58 PM

Sublime was all about the lead vocals, you can't really just hire a new vocalist. Only AC/DC has done that successfully.

potter 03-09-2009 11:58 PM

sublime =/= the remaining members.

Bradley was sublime. He was all that Sublime was. The drummer and bassist just did exactly what any other drummer and bassist on the planet could do. They're both entirely replaceable.

... There is no Sublime without Bradley. Period.

Sublime with Bradley kicked so much ass. RIP Bradley.

Vicious_B 03-10-2009 05:27 AM

They should hire my friend. He sounds so much like the original singer its scary. I will have to upload the video of him singing and post it.

Magnus 03-10-2009 05:58 AM

This would be sick... I know Bradly was the voice of Sublime.. but all were talented musicians and I would dig just hearing the jams from the originals.

Tribute bands are ok if they dont try to "act" like the originals on stage, but I guess some people like the.

Could you get the Cadilac Tramps to open for them ;) .

Not sure if you play drums or bass?? they are not just any old rhythm section, they had some mad talent.
Agree Bradley was the voice/sound of sublime though.

Fletch XXX 03-10-2009 06:04 AM

brand0n 03-10-2009 08:25 AM

fuzebox 03-10-2009 08:54 AM

Having either Sublime or Badfish at Xbiz would make that the first Players Ball I would really look forward to :)

corvette 03-10-2009 08:57 AM

Yep. I am willing to give them their day in court!

Raja 03-10-2009 09:25 AM

I am a huge Sublime fan. I might come to Vegas just to see them.

Killswitch - BANNED FOR LIFE 03-10-2009 09:51 AM

Never be the same without Brad.

UFGators2007 03-10-2009 10:06 AM

Its not the same. It will never be the same!

D-Money 03-10-2009 10:12 AM

Check this shit out. I sent that email last night to Badfish's manager, curious to see how much they'd want. I figured for a cover band, with travel expenses, maybe they'd be around $10k at the very most. He wanted $25k! I laughed at him in the email saying it would be cheaper to get the real Sublime with the new lead singer!

We'll see if he comes down in price. I would love to have Badfish open up or headline a show one day, they're pretty good, but not that good!

The hunt continues...

TheSenator 03-10-2009 10:13 AM

I smoked two joints in the morning....

:thumbsup:thumbsup Seen them 3 times! Very good tribute indeed!

meeerino 03-10-2009 03:36 PM

I like their songs a lot, but recently I found lots of riffs and especially lyrics, are stolen. Just listen to the lyrics on 40 oz, most of them sound good but don't make much sense - because they are taken from different songs :)

Snake Doctor 03-10-2009 03:38 PM

I never liked them with the new singer.

I still listen to their original stuff all the time though
