Finally, one newspaper understands the Interwebs a little better
As you guys know, Craigslist and feed-driven news sites are killing many traditional newspapers. The open question is how many online news sites can survive without quality paid feeds from established news agencies and newspapers?
Here's one newspaper that leveraged its media assets for digital media by embracing an open feed system: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009...-open-platform
Here's the payoff: The Guardian is positioning its Open Platform as a commercial venture, requiring partners to carry its advertising as part of its terms and conditions, while BBC Backstage states clearly that its proposition is for individual developers designers and not for "big corporates".
There's still some open issues left to address though, but this is a good start.
