Do you eat beef from Fast Food joints?

Read Fast Food Nation. Read the chapter on slaughter houses. I really doubt after reading it you would be able to put a piece of beef in your mouth.

I've been beef and pork free for 4 months. Not even a cheat day. :)

Jman 03-11-2009 09:12 AM

Bison is the new beef.... SOOOOOO TASTY

JamesK 03-11-2009 09:12 AM

I used to think the same way. I think it's the negative stigma stinky dirty overzealous hippies give the entire "vegetarian" or animal rights movement. It turned me off for years and I just thought anyone who was like this was a faggot.

But the more I learn about mass meat production in the world the more I'll pass.

Really? The ones I got there I didn't like. Tasted too.... "Sweet" or something.

jmcb420 03-11-2009 09:17 AM

no fast food for me. I have a friend who raises and slaughters cows, chickens and pigs. All organic, no bs. I dont think I could touch fast food and enjoy it anymore.

I was diggin em, gotta follow the directions pretty closely as it cooks very differently from normal burgers...

My girl made em up with her usual seasonings, and they we're great. Looking forward to experimenting more with different dishes.

Fair enough.

One question though, why don't you buy biological meat? The animals are supposedly living a better life and they say the meat tastes better too.

Tom_PM 03-11-2009 09:21 AM

There are federal standards for how much rodent hair is allowed in fresh meat. Yep, the standard is higher than zero, lmfao.

I do buy non hormone injected chickens from Fresh and Easy. I also eat ground turkey. I just avoid all red meat and pigs these days. It's just a personal choice.

I'd go a step further and buy fresh local chickens - but it's hard to find that in Orange County.
I shop at the farmers markets for my produce - and there are a lot of organic growers here.

Just tired of the SHIT food products. When I made the switch last year to a healthier lifestyle, my attitude and outlook and life has improved significantly.

CDSmith 03-11-2009 09:26 AM

Buffalo burgers are only good if they're flame-broiled. Places that fry them just can't compare.

Fast food beef -- I can count on one hand the number of times I hit a fast food joint in a year. Once in a blue moon I get the craving, then it's go time.

Costs me somewhere between $15 - $20 to fill me up at McDeath's these days. :D

fuzebox 03-11-2009 09:38 AM

I've stayed away from fast food for years, but it has nothing to do with the treatment of animals. Yes I saw fast food nation, and it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know... However the amount of crap that is not meat in a fast food burger is what keeps me away.

Sosa 03-11-2009 09:41 AM

Give me a nice grilled burger or steak and I'm happy :)

Jman 03-11-2009 10:01 AM

Again... Bison or if you are a little pussy you can try Ostrich

candyflip 03-11-2009 10:35 AM

I couldn't live without red meat. Good on you for making the decision and sticking to it.

Lady Shaw 03-11-2009 10:36 AM

I don't like to eat shit, no matter how long they cook it.

now read up on chicken, especially the part about pesticides they spray on them.

I am vegetarian because I refuse to eat the mass produced flesh they sell us. And I surely am not going into the wild to kill my own.

I just want to live longer, so when people rag on me I figure they'll be dead sooner than myself, and I will laugh then.

You can add butter and some breadcrumbs to keep them more moist along with an egg to hold it together if you like.

Oracle Porn 03-11-2009 11:12 AM

i just bought 4lb. of filet :)

atom 03-11-2009 11:14 AM

I used to buy Hormone free chicken until I read an article in consumer reports.

No hormones label = Pointless: The USDA prohibits the use of hormones in raising poultry.

If you really want good chicken find this label on them

USDA organic. A USDA-accredited certifier has checked that the chicken company followed standards, including: Chickens were raised without antibiotics, ate 100 percent organic feed without animal byproducts, and could go outdoors (though they may not have).

if you're in Jersey or NYC over the spring, summer or fall, let me know. There's a major train hub a few miles away, a stop a block away, a bus stop right outside and a big bus hub about a mile away.

Calico Jack 03-11-2009 12:56 PM

I eat organic free range chickens and try to buy the best beef I can afford. However, I did eat McDonalds last night...we were out, it was late and no one like the thought of returning home and making dinner. It tasted like shit.

If eating meat will make you live longer, then why do you have to take suppliments to give you what the meat would have? Seems we are meant to eat it.

Jade509 03-11-2009 02:14 PM

Eat the beef!

Ozarkz 03-11-2009 04:19 PM

Nope, I take the meat off my Big Mac just before plowing it into my face with a side of large fries and a DIET, yes DIET coke, I have to keep my figure.

ShellyCrash 03-12-2009 07:18 AM

Not just fast food joints... it's as old as the meat packing industry.

For anyone who really cares- check out "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair.
