RedTube not even a year old yet.

I was just checking the whois database on some domains...RedTube [dot] com is not even a year old yet...and has an Alexa rank of 53. This is amazing in less then a year to be ranked 53 out of the millions of websites worldwide. With traffic like this you can't blame others for making similiar tube websites.

Record expires on 07-Jan-2015.
Record created on 21-Apr-2008.
Database last updated on 12-Mar-2009 00:00:26 EDT.

I could have sworn they been around longer?

doridori 03-11-2009 09:24 PM

they've been around much longer.

It seems too crazy...that a website can generate that much momentum in less then a year, and to be honest I did not realize how new these tube sites were. So now I see the sudden switch to everyone promoting cams and dating.

RyuLion 03-11-2009 09:34 PM

Anyone submits vids there?

Ayla_SquareTurtle 03-11-2009 09:38 PM

You're mistaken.

Checkout this page from March 2007 from archive.org

http://web.archive.org/web/200703300...w.redtube.com/

It's been around longer than a year.

Very strange, but here is the whois info
http://who.godaddy.com/WhoIs.aspx?do...rog_id=godaddy

I also checked a couple others in the top 100 rank, and most are 1-2 years old max.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 03-11-2009 09:47 PM

google the phrase "whois redtube" without the quotation marks.

HookUPcom 03-11-2009 09:54 PM

Crazy that there are what 3 tubes right about the top 50? RedTube, PornHub and YouPorn... Crazy that's most of the internet.

d-null 03-11-2009 09:59 PM

domain was registered in 2006

what I find the most interesting from an seo perspective, how a site like that virally generates over a quarter million backlinks, so by rights all porn searches on google should have a very good chance of finding relevance in being sent to a site like redtube (no bogus linkbuilding or trading or nothing, just viral relevance because tube sites are what the average surfer wants when they are searching for porn)

Good point. Funny when I hear people say that nobody searches for porn anymore because they spend more time social networking. Truth is, people are watching more porn then ever before in the history of mankind.

Hell, women are even watching porn now because of tube sites.

Semi-Retired-Dave 03-11-2009 10:10 PM

Just thinking about this - before the tube sites, we were converting around 1:50 just from our links pages.

It's amazing how things change!

Don't see how this is amazing.....if you give away full length porn dvds for free, ofcourse you're going to be at the top with ungodly amounts of traffic. Nothing shocking about that. Especially when (insert percentage here) of the people who come online are looking for porn.

what a shocker... everyone has broadband and no one can get why people want streaming videos instead of retarded link lists, top lists and tgps with an 80% skim.

i can't believe this is happening. i thought link lists and top lists would last forever. i'm totally stunned that people gravitate towards streaming video in the year 2009

muhahahaha, that's some funny shit

I know I repeat this all the time but anything adult you build from now on should be around cams or dating, a whole army of Russian webmasters is switching from chasing the pay per signup to pay per upload, can you take a wild guiess what they are uploading?

Smaller/tighter niches programs might last a bit lnoger but who knows....

then again I'd be more than happy if I'm wrong

The exponential explosion of torrents and tubes is what will drive us out of business.

Why it is amazing is because so many people found the website so fast, I wonder how many other websites became so popular so fast. 23 year old girls in my office joke and say stop staying up so late going on red tube or porn tube. I would say besides these adult tube sites the others that caught on fast were the free music downloading. So we know everyone wants free, but I want to know how everyone found out so fast. Don't remember how I found out...

Also I check several other whois databases and they all say less then a year old, and I doubt it was dropped...and the new owners had back ordered it.
