is there a database type system that works like google maps? I need a way to visualiz
 

I want to create a database that I can enter things into, and then search like google maps... that way I can have a visual reference to the information I'm gathering.

Any ideas? I need a way to store, search, and visually see where my resources are located throughout the country.

google maps does have an api could you possibly use for your project. not sure exactly what you want to do though..

That's cool, but it's not private and you can't search within your own maps.

I recruit people for companies.

Each person has specific skills and history - I'd like to be able to enter them onto my database and then search the database later for keywords...

I should see markers on my map showing me where to find these people. The map would come in handy so I can instantly relate climate etc between my candidate and the possible new location.

It's pretty tough to get someone in Florida to move to Wisconsin for some reason :rolleyes:

google maps can do that easily for you
