Some of it is lost forever for sure. A guy like that would never tell where all of it was hidden, especially not to his wife.

Well, it is a ponzi scheme so money was paid out during the whole time it was running. So there is no 50 billion anywhere hidden away. But he obviously kept some money.

That is also why I don't feel total sympathy for everyone who invested. Many of them made more over time then they lost when it all got shutdown. Those who didn't pull any money obviously got the shaft though but plenty of people were drawing that dirty money this whole time. Are they going to give it back??? Not to mention, I'm sure when these people invested and asked how it was possible to get 30% returns there was probably a "wink-wink" and everyone laughed. I don't think these burned investors are truly shocked it turned out to be a scam. They're just mad they lost money on it.
