Joaquin Phoenix meltdown--real or made for video hoax?
 

Joaquin Phoenix, famous for his work in Gladiator and Walk the Line, is in the headlines recently for some bizarre Tom cruise-like behavior (more of the drunken version instead of the wacked out anti-psychiatry version). He announced his retirement from acting. His brother in law filmed the event. Also, his other 'meltdown' episodes were on camera. Do you guys think this is real or is part of a Borat-style mockumentary?

I'm convinced it's a publicity stunt and an elaborate hoax. I mean just think, before all this started, Joaquin Phoenix was barely a celebrity and no one ever talked about him...

That's not true... Gladiator and Walk the Line pretty much secured him as a star with some academy award nominations.
But yes, I'm convinced it's a stunt as well just cause his b-i-l is following him around with a camera all the time, ever since the whole thing started.

If I remember right he's shooting a documentary with Casey Affleck on his rise to rap stardom. This is a massive marketing hoax for their little mockumentary or jokeumentary or whatever the fuck you want to call it.

It's not likely he was able to hear what someone in the audience would be saying.

It was also in Miami and look at how hyped everything/everyone was.. The dude making noises and hyping the crowd while he's supposedly fighting in the audience?

Why is he even there performing? etc..

Not the same as being a celebrity imo... I probably wouldn't notice him if he walked by me on the street. Before this he stayed out of the media and wasn't a big "face" outside of his movies.

i think it's an clever and highly intelligent social commentary on the entertainment industry. A subtle mockery of rappers becoming terrible actors, by an actor becoming a terrible rapper. :1orglaugh

They are making some kind of film / mockumentary deal.

The whole series of events does have a Kauffmanesque feel to it.
