After Shock Media 03-14-2009 03:39 PM

Um he would of lost the money if Mccain or anyone else was elected as well so why even bring up Obama?

Wait are you actually saying since he supported Obama he lost the money as a result?

Doctor Dre 03-14-2009 03:40 PM

Oh yeah this economic crisis is definitly obama's fault... he created it.

I wouldn't go that far, but there would be ALOT more confidence in the market.

Yes, it is Obama's fault AND all his big government tax 'N' spender buddies in Congress --mostly Democrats-- but you can throw in a few Republicans if it makes ya feel better.

there would be confidence in the markets if the republicans would just sit down and stop linking obama to stalin/lenin and other ways of making us think there is 'something' going on.

I love how many threads there are about politics and the economy every day, as if anything any of you say matters :1orglaugh

LiveDose 03-14-2009 05:05 PM

I feel like I'm watching a ping pong match in this thread.

We'll never know what would have happened with McCain but he was a tool for sure.

Obama on the other hand will have a huge impact on this country in the next four years and I think it is going to be a disaster.

kane 03-14-2009 06:15 PM

IMO here is what happens if McCain wins.

1. The democrats would feel like the got cheated. Obama pretty much led in the polls the entire way save for the two weeks right around Palin's nomination and the republican convention. Once the nation got to see her and find out a little bit about her they realized she is batshit crazy and the polls went right back to where they were before. So for McCain to win he would have needed a miracle. Assuming he got that miracle the democrats would feel he cheated and they would be out for him with a vengeance. They own the house and senate and would make it their mission that McCain got nothing done. He would be a lame duck from day 1 in the office.

2. Confidence in the economy? Would this confidence booster be the same guy who said, " I Never Really Understood Economics. The issue of economics is something that I’ve really never understood as well as I should.”? Seems to me that cost him big and when the shit hit the fan he started saying everything was okay. That seems like another denial based approached. The media and the democrats would take every chance they had to re-run that quote and as long as it is floating around he would have very little credibility when it came to economic policy.

To me McCain would have been a lame duck who would most likely end up doing much of the same things Obama has been doing. Obama has put forth a plan to help people stay in their homes and stop foreclosures. McCain suggested we use up to 300 billion to buy up bad mortgages so people can stay in their homes. I'm not a rocket scientist, but those two sound a lot alike. He thought we needed to bailout Bear Stearns because it was, "necessary to protect economy." That sounds a lot like the "socialism" the republicans are now railing against. If that is how he feels you know he would have put some kind of bailout package together. Would it have been better than the Obama package? That we can only speculate at. Would it have ever passed the senate or house? Who knows. Would it have been filled with earmarks and pork? 100% guaranteed.

The one thing I think we can know for sure is that McCain would not have gone into the white house with nearly as strong of support and good will as Obama did. Many would see him has Bush's 3rd term and others would feel he stole the election. If his approval ratings were low from the start it would be pretty hard for him to inspire much of anything.

Don't take this post as me saying Obama is the greatest thing ever. I don't agree with everything he has done (for that matter there is a lot he is doing or will be doing I don't agree with) but I think for where we are right now he was the better choice of the two.

For those that say he will be the downfall of this nation... please. They say that every time someone is elected. Bush was going to destroy this country. When he won a second term WW3 was supposed to start. . . well, okay so the economy was nearly destroyed under his watch, but I don't think people thought that would be what he would do. Reagan was going to get us in a nuclear war and Clinton was going to turn us into a communist country. There are always doomsayers, We survived before. We will survive again.

Actually, that is not correct...

The end of the nation was set in stone from the moment Bush participated in this ancient African voodoo ritual curse.
