GFY Chefs: What is your favorite cookbook?
I'm going to ebay me some cookbooks, what can you guys recommend?
I especially like Japanese, Thai, Malay, Mexican, Italian |
Anything by Julia Child.
|
I was wondering this same thing earlier today as I was whipping up some Hamburger Helper, and was going to ask ASM.

Answer really depends on your cooking level and if you like to follow recipes or just like to read them for inspiration.
However if you really want a starting place for some of the best ones available hit http://www.cooksillustrated.com/bookstore/ All of them are fantastic and the hardbound magazine sets are killer. |

Oh donkevlar since you mentioned Japanese look for Morimoto the new art of Japanese cooking. It is a monster sized book close to 300 pages if I remember (in the kitchen). Good to read, not super hard to follow, and his food does taste incredible.

I just turn to GFY when I'm looking for recipes. Trust me, I stand by my word, tis place may be full of idiots, but some of them know their fucking food. GFY always pulls through when it comes down to food...
|
I look up recipes online and try out the ones that get the best reviews from people who tried it.
