What would you do with your sites when you retire or die
If you had a site or network of sites that was making money what would you do if got to old to run them or you were on your death bed. Would you sell them or would you hand them down to a family member or close friend..Could you imagine a site staying alive for 100 years and being handed down to family members..
|
I remember years ago - 1999 - people telling me they got into the industry in 1994 and started by making five galleries a day. As they started to make money they hired other people to make galleries for them, and after a few years they had tens of thousands of galleries on line. Once you get to that point, all you need to do is keep the domains registered and hosted.
I have a link up from 1998 for a site I don't promote any more that still sends me two or three joins a month.... |
Yep.
I would just let my family member take them over, and go from there. |
I guess its up to who is left.

Already have that all covered with assorted legal paperwork (living trust etc.). Even have binders with very detailed information on just about every aspect of running and owning them.
|
i would donate them to science

DIE I wouldn't give two fucks!! Retire sell it off or give it to someone that needs it to make there life better!! Hehe yea right... I would sell it off if im retired! :1orglaugh:pimp |
Right now my shit isn't important enough to matter, but once it does, I'll have employees and a company registered which will be fully running my network, and handed down to my children if I die. But if I get to old, I'll most likely retire and sell off my shares of the company, much like any other company owner would.

I have every site, every domain, every sponsor, every password, everything in detail layed out on how to run my sites, keep them alive, and keep them producing income in a word file on my computer, in my gmail, and on a zip drive.

KennyB is supposed to take over ours and put the money in a trustfund for family... I should probably let him know about that. :1orglaugh

Our contract says survivor takes full ownership with a monthly percentage given to our kids.

Eva will carry on and probably do a better job.
Here's an idea for those with sites with exclusive content they own a full license to. Give it to content brokers to sell over and over again. The money will keep coming in for years. I have content with Photorama I shot over 15 years ago and it still makes money. Plus every month we review the content we broker for other shooters and send the checks. Of course it depends on the content. Some scenes makes a lot and other scenes make little. Most make more than anyone will pay for exclusive. So fucking glad we never went that route. When you sell it outright it's gone for ever. |
Everything is for sale at the right price so I'll just sell everything when I get bored with it :)

Exact same thing here. Only 1 person knows where this details are. So if anything was to happen to me things would go forward as normal, or they could sell, whatever. Things wouldnt just spiral too shit and be a big waste. |
Retire? Why would I want to do that? This shit is so fucking easy!
Die? My GF has been instructed to open the envelope, IF I DIE... And inside it there are instructions on what to do immediately to preserve my traffic. People to talk to. People to pay. People not to talk to. People not to pay. She won't need the money form my work. My life insurance is pretty damn high. |
