OMG Do you guys ever do this?

Last night I struggled for a freakin' hour to do something that should have been a breeze. I was trying to get a word press post to show a poster frame for an flv. The code to do it was *right* in front of me, but somehow I kept fucking it up time and time again.

This morning, with a fresh set of eyes, I got it to work on the first try.

I cannot count the number of times that I have been stubborn and refused to stop trying, even though I was getting no where, and my eyes were rebelling against staying open any longer.

You think I'd learn to just go to bed.

It happens to people from time to time.. Next time walk away for a few min and then come and try again.

yeah, best to take a short break and come back to things like that.

I go masturbate then start again.

Always does the trick... ;-)

Never happens to me, I'm brilliant

Monty1969 03-18-2009 08:06 AM

happens to me all the way

UFGators2007 03-18-2009 10:06 AM

Happens from time to time. You just have to learn to brush things off and procrastinate. Leave it off until later.

It happens from time to time :)

Yes I remember in the early 90's when I was working with turbo pascal, I would stay up for days working on things.. after a good sleep I could repair 100 errors in a snap, lol. Think of it as prep work, not wasted time, lol. Gotta learn how things DONT work before it comes clear how they do ;)

regular expressions are this way for me. getting CSS to look the same in all browsers used to be as well, till i learned some of the tricks, thank god!

chelis 03-18-2009 12:29 PM

Happened to me like 1000 times :)

Best thing is to take a short break or a looong break :thumbsup

I always take a break and step away from what i'm doing..

It also helps to have someone with fresh eyes to look at something..

It's really easy to miss a bracket or spell something wrong and not notice it..

Redmanthatcould 03-18-2009 12:34 PM

Yea, and what's funny is I will tell myself it doesn't matter if I step away or not, and that I won't get it. Then sure enough, I look later, or the next day, and notice I missed an obvious DIV tag, or something stupid like that. What's the most annoying is if I write something in Notepad++, and then copy/paste to my page...and forget a bracket at the beginning or end, and sit there for 30 minutes trying to figure out why it shows up fine in FF, but shit has hit the wall in IE. Good times lol

I should listen to myself more often :)
