First of all, the Obama administration PUSHED for the bonus payment provision in the bailout package....

...and congress voted for it, and the president signed it.

NOW they want to claim that somehow the people working for AIG stole the money and slam a completely unfair tax on those people???

Second, Congress recently voted themselves an increase of their expense accounts from 1.2 million dollars a year to 1.6 million dollars a year.... and this in a time of massive recession and the government budget totally in the red. Every penny of that money is "bailout" (tax) money.

They want to talk about corporate greed and excess, and that no one should make more than $500k, but meanwhile they vote THEMSELVES 1.6 million a year expense accounts????


America needs to wake up. Congress is using this class warfare ruse as a way to get people to not look at what congress is doing.

Do you realize that they basically forced Bank of America to take bailout money, and are now asking for a list of B of A's top 200 bonus earners? This is crazy

The AIG execs didn't deserve a bonus or at least that much of it to begin with, but certainly how it was all laid out is shitty on all sides. Unfortunately this administration is simply dawdling around (or should I say Doddling? :P)...making absolutely no beneficial difference so far to anyone except maybe themselves and their rich buddies, with Obama already breaking a shitload of his promises.

K here is my POV ... love it or hate it:

1. YES, the AIG bonus thing is stupid compared to all the shit that is going on at the same time such as the fact that we are bailing banks TWICE ...first through bailouts and then AIG pays them their insurance monies .... and those AINT millions those are BILLIONS.... that money is also being used to bail out banks overseas which is even more fucked up.. and those overseas institutions are getting a bigger stake on the monies AIG has to pay....we are fucking bailing out the world....

2. While I don't like the fact that the govt may be wanting to break legal contracts and may want to act as a socialistic govt... we have to remember... these are AIG's "TOP TALENT" we are talking about... yeah the same talent that was paid millions to stay working for AIG but took the money and ran away instead .. .the TALENT that was paid to take down one of the biggest companies in America and almost took down the entire financial system with it..... I mean who the fuck leverages investments at a 30:1 ratio.. looses a shitload of money and expects to get away with a "bonus" ... where is the fucking PERFORMANCE to back that up?

SO ..NO I DON'T like govt fucking around with legal contracts but if you FUCK AMERICAS FINANCIAL SYSTEM in the ass you should NOT be allowed to get away with bonuses....

3. Everyone who is focused on these bonues should act now about it .. punish those bastards AND THEN move on to more important matters such as the management and allocation of the BILLIONS that are at stake....

Everyone in congress should make more , they should make a lot more. That way more intelligent people would apply for the job. No good business person could want to be a congressman now because the pay is to low.
