Your favorite Slayer songs?

I'm starting to understand the fascination - this really is more than headbanging, more than metal, more than the ultimate power trash metal band that's around for 27 years now.

This is something close to watching the painting of Hieronymus Bosch - decatent, nihilistic, brutal, violent - but truly artistic and truly fascinating.

Also, this is NOT a music that would make a strong first impression, and this is NOT a music that is easy to play, this is NOT a music that would be easy to criticize if you play or think you know shit about music.

My top 3 so far:

1) 213 from Divine Intervention (1994)

Although not Dave Lombardo - the drums are killing it and this is extremely epical and extremely great

2) Seasons in the abyss from 1990

Although massively overplayed, the song is just so written in the heavy metal history and I'm not fed up with that so far, plus it's one of the best music videos I've ever seen.

3) SS - 3 from Divine Intervention (1994)

Mainly as a combination of the great lyrics and evil music
I kind of love this whole album the most so far.

The albums I didn't listen that much yet are Diabolus in Musica and Christ Illusion, so I can't add from them, although Christ Illusion is a strong one so far.

This will definitely change over the course of time, any suggestions from more experienced Slayer experts?

There is no way to top the classic "Reign in Blood". Slayer and Pantera...thats all I need!

Only live does it the real justice!

I'm a huge fan of Pantera as well, wish I knew more bands close to their instrumental and brutal format, anything to recommend?

Here are a couple great harder bands: Black Label Society (little lighter but great riffs), Damage Plan, Lamb of God, Superjoint Ritual (LOVE THIS BAND), and of course the most brutal, zazzy heavy metal band on the planet......DETHKLOK!!!!

Cool, I'll have to check those out.

What do you do JC - licensing content?

JC Maldini 03-20-2009 10:34 AM

Yea, I work for the studio Pandemonium as well as a couple other sister studios. They (Pandemonium) have been doing DVD sales and duplication for the last 10 plus years..never really venturing online. They brought me on board to manage content sales and build relationships with the online community :)

SykkBoy 03-20-2009 10:35 AM

That's like asking me to pick my favorite child...

I can actually do the album version of the scream at the beginning... :)

SykkBoy 03-20-2009 10:38 AM

and their love ballad........

What content is web exclusive yet, what niches?

What are your short term and long term plans?

Drop me an email at cb (at) bigsistermedia (dot) net if you want to, I'll be glad to review that.

We are a Swiss based company with this crazy club in Prague czech Republic where we host swingers parties, couples shoot their own DVD's and guests can get free sex in front of the cams, I have bigsisterlive.com up and will be launching two brand new sites within a month or so in the swingers and real couples niche, that will then form a brand new separate sponsor program that will be called sexclubcash.

I'm Carl Borowitz, I have all the power you need if you deal with me, so no rep monkey bullshit.

This might not be something I could work with you directly at, but I might help you with some contacts, especially if you're mentioning you're starting and behave like a cultured individual, which is extremely rare around here, with everyone jerking off to their own posts.

I remember how that was when I was starting at the online marketing end, I'll be glad to help if I can.

I agree, that's a masterpiece, I only need to hear it some more times yet.

I'm still not so big in trash / heavy music, so I can't probably appreciate the Reign in Blood enough yet, as it's praised by many as the holy grail of heavy music.

They sure never dissapointed, I can hardly find a band that would be so consistent and so uncompromising in what they do.

Even their first album, which is not a real "Slayer" yet and has a lot of NWOBHM vibe in it is fun.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! My buddy Craven Moorehead is in Kerry Kings recording studio right listening to them jam now.

Craven is really good friends with Kerry King.

Went to Slipknot last week. That really rocked!! Friends with Cory (the lead singer) and Joey (the drummer). Same situation there. Met them through Craven Moorehead. They are porn fans.

I got pit passes and all access to the Slayer show in July.

I'm sure they're easy enough guys to get along with, at one pointin time each and every one of them was a massive dork...

Shit, I know Murray Craven,

He was shooting something in Prague for a company that went under in the meantime, he looked like a parrot among the crows when he hit the street, among all those uber mediocre uniform looking regular pseudo gay clothed cherubines here!

Bojangles 03-21-2009 04:06 AM

Dead Skin Mask.

SinisterStudios 03-21-2009 04:26 AM

For me it always has been CHEMICAL WARFARE, i remember seeing them play that at the Capital Theater in Passaic nj with Venom when i was 16.

Man that was 23 years ago, and i still listen to them all the time.

Damn i have been a longtime Slayer fan, pk now i offically feel old

nico-t 03-21-2009 10:26 AM

hahahahahahahaha!!! you are too funny!!

Craven is working on this project where he interviews rock bands and they tell crazy stories of girls doing crazy shit to get backstage. Then Craven recreate the story told by the rock stars telling the story.

Its a really cool concept. Craven is the only guy in the whole entire adult industry that can actually get real video interviews with all the rock stars about their crazy road stories. And he has the skills to shoot it accurately.

Its a fun project. I get to go to all of the cool LA show when the bands come into town. And i hope that i get to come and watch Slayer jam at Kerry kings studio next week. I will twitter that shit with phone pics next week.lol:thumbsup

Slayer has so many good songs. Every song on their album, "Show No Mercy" is my favorite, but if I had to post my "top" 3 favorites, these are what come to mind.

god hates us all was an alright album, but far from the best. Scarstruck is probably the best song from the album in my opinion.

Yeah I missed them twice so far, they play here like once even twice a year cause it's a huge following around here.

Many heavy bands say it's the best audience in Europe, i guess it's because people are hungry and they drink a lot :)

Well the audience is sometimes even too drunk and annoying, so when I went to see Stooges last September, it was the first time ever I bought me a ticket to sit for a heavier concert.

Just to not having to deal with kids, who know shit about Stooges, but would do the their best to jump on my head..

RoCkMaN 03-24-2009 03:40 AM

I'm starting to like it a lot too,

The magic is that you really need to listen to that many times, and it won't get overplayed, which is always a good sign and these bands are worth gold.

me too, got this album and Reign in Blood in the mid 80's when it came out

the great Slayer song that every thrash metal band should have as a cover in their repertoire because you can learn it in 5 minutes and it kicks ass (even Metallica did a cover of this Slayer song):
