Last day of $0.12 gas in Venezuela
Today might be the last day of $0.12/gallon gas in Venezuela.
Chavez is going to announce a package of economic measures to face the economic crisis and low oil prices and one of the most likely measures will be to raise gas prices, taxes and probably reduce the amount of dollars each venezuelan can spend every year. And to think this moron said in september last year that the world economic crisis would never hit us and that the venezuelan economy was "bulletproof".What a dumbass. I'm off to fill my car... |
What you mean by probably reduce the amount of dollars each venesuelan can spend.
PS - You really going to rush out to fill your car up? WTF are you woried about a single signup even on revshare would probably keep you in gas for several months. |

Last year, with credit cards, you could spend $3000 on electronic transactions (internet) and $5000 for travellers. Then, the government reduced those amounts to $400 for electronic transactions and $2500 for travellers. Of course when you have these kinds of controls , there is a black market. In the black market, each dollar costs around Bs.6 right now. So you have people that buy dollars at the official government price (Bs.2.15) and sell at the black market rate. A bunch of people started setting up fake online stores to "sell" stuff. People started charging the credit cards for the electronic transactions online and then the owners of these fake stores gave them the actual money in cash or dollars deposited in foreign accounts minus a fee. Many people made a LOT of money doing that hehe... Most of the money (in $) I make online I save or invest back in to online ventures. My daily living expenses are covered by my day job. The only time I sold dollars here at the black market rate was to buy a new car 'cos my old one was giving me too much trouble. I just filled my car up just in case tomorrow is the last day of cheap gas hehe...for nostalgia.:1orglaugh |
Kektex lo siento que tienes que vivir por esto. Chavez es un idiota.

Thanks Score-cash!
I'm not actually complaining about the gas prices, since I think we are long overdue for a price revision. The price has been the same for 10 years! But many people here are afraid of what economic measures will be announced tomorrow. We'll see... |
Hugo's buddy in Iran was saying pretty much the same thing and they are in the same boat.
I read an article the other day about the chairman of OPEC getting all upset at the Western countries for not fixing the global economic crisis. For some reason I got a little chuckle out of that. These guys have been making billions and billions and trillions of dollars from the west for years... they were not complaining this summer when oil was $150 a barrel. Now they stand and cry because their economies can't survive on $50 a barrel. |
The worst thing, at least here in Venezuela , is that with the prices of oil in the past year we should be looking like fuckin Dubai or something.
Instead you have hospitals falling apart, crime running rampant with 20+ dead every weekend just in caracas, shitty roads, etc. When I think about all the money Chavez has thrown away during the past 10 years it makes me really sad about the missed opportunities for this country. Now with the price of oil under $50 he's going to have to tighten the screws. And unfortunately the middle class is probably going to be the one getting shafted. |
sucks for you guys
|
Hopefully that thug's days are numbered as your leader. It's a shame what he has done to your beautiful country.

Yes,. bring back United Fruit Brands ...
|
Heh, I knew directfiesta would be in the thread any time soon to defend Chavez.
I love how people who have no idea of what's going on in a country like to argue with those who actually live there. United Fruit Brands was never in Venezuela btw. Unfortunately this country has never produced anything apart from oil and some coffee back in the beggining of the 20th century. |
