I run WeirdandSexy.com - Let me answer your question from the perspective of a seller and a buyer.
I've signed up for Google ADWords and although they claim some unrealistic minimums like .02 a click - you are likely to pay between .06 and .25 a click for your incoming traffic. In my experience you had better have some pretty awesome content to turn that traffic into profit. Of course, take into account the probablility that you'll have a customer for an average of 2 1/2 months. Personally, I've never been able to make it work despite a half dozen unanswered emails and many keywords well into the zone where they would be tripped.
I personally set up a pay per click sales option for my site web directory because most of the webmasters I deal with don't have an affiliate program. I basically took apart a top 100 and used it to track hits from the rotating banners and thumbs I created. I charge a pathetic .02 a click for a banner that rotates across a couple of my websites along with a 100x100 graphic that does the same. What I've learned is that WeirdandSexy.com along with DeadlyAmazons.com is GOOD for Femdom, Catfight, General Girl Power style sites; Decent for Sleepy, Hypnosis, Chloro style sites. Decent for Huge Breasts, Huge Muscles, Huge Bellies Not as good for BDSM, Spanking, Latex style sites and nearly nonexistent for Vanilla Sex, Fuck&Suck, Milf, Teen, Blowjob etc style sites. The advantage of PPC is that a webmaster trying out a Milf site on WeirdandSexy.com gets what he pays for and hey, he MIGHT be the exception!
My customers seem to be happy with the program as I've had few cancellations and some customers have been running banners for over a year.
As a webmaster: My PPC program is a secondary part of my income that I use mostly for casual webmasters uninterested in creating affiliate programs. Actual recurring affiliate programs are my bread and butter and are far more profitable for me than PPC.
