HBO's Big Love

Just watched the season finally of big love.

Murder, deceit, comrodery, family, the law, all tied together into one really good show.

I don't watch much tv but it really did beat the drama here on GFY. Good show.

DK 03-22-2009 09:11 PM

Yep just saw it myself!
I dont wanna post the spoiler but it was a great finale!

uno 03-22-2009 09:13 PM

I haven't watched it yet, but i damn sure hope its not another 2 years between seasons.

yeah... me neither. But besides the finale the whole show was just filled with twists and really actually exciting to watch...

MikeSmoke 03-22-2009 10:30 PM

The show has been great all along - but that episode should be screened for all TV writers/producers/directors, to show them what a season finale *should* look like.
Outstanding :thumbsup

becky_gurlnextdoor 03-22-2009 10:31 PM

PurrrsianPussyKat 03-22-2009 10:35 PM

Diomed 03-22-2009 11:21 PM

I just couldn't get into that show for some reason, and I really tried to like it.

Seems a bit boring to me, perhaps because I don't know it from the ground up and all the back stories, etc.

Kind of consider it like that stupid vampire show True Blood.

I also can't get down with this Tudors shit, and I REALLY wanted to like it.

Bring back Rome or The Sopranos.

uno 03-22-2009 11:29 PM

Just lie to me and say Nicky dies. Please. I can't stand that bitch.

next to Rome its the finest bit of programming HBO has ever done

Reak AGV 03-23-2009 03:56 AM

I never liked that show much

Loki 03-23-2009 06:25 AM

WOW, I might be one of the few people that HATED last night's episode lol.

Without giving away any spoliers let me try and explain why, and maybe get some feedback from those who 'loved it'

Lets say there were 4 storylines going on, (if you watched you can break them down) my number one gripe was that IMHO they should have cut EACH of the 4 storylines about 10 -30 secs earlier.

In my mind everything got wrapped up, nothing was really left hanging, and thus I'm not sitting in my chair/couch/bed/floor etc, saying OMG OMFG I CAN'T WAIT TILL THE NEXT SEASON!!!!

Instead TO ME, the episode felt more like the FINAL episode of the show, and not a series ender.

I dunno I miss the days where seasons would end with huge cliffhangers, but now-a-days they don't seem to do that in case the show gets the axe lol.

Finally do me this favor...

How much BETTER would the episode have been if Each of the "storylines" were cut 10-30 secs shorter

and just to clarify the four WITHOUT spoilers...

(1) Roman
(2) Nikki
(3) Albe
(4) Sarah (Bill's Daughter)

I liked the show last night, and I LOVE the series overall. This show normally does not do the cliff hanger season finales. But yes, it certainly would have put a lot more suspense into it for next season had they cut them by 10-30 seconds.

P.S. Nicki's offspring is creepy.

smutnut 03-23-2009 07:20 AM

Awesome fucking show and awesome fucking finale. I was almost certain it would be a cliff hanger because they had so much to wrap up and signed for a fourth season.

This is the best written drama since The Sopranos. Who knew the mormons were this fucked up LOL!

John-ACWM 03-23-2009 01:47 PM

seems like a good show.I'll try it on dvd

Blufox 03-23-2009 02:32 PM

I love Big Love. Great series. I like last nights episode, but so much happened. I wish they would have spanned the story out for another episode. The Margie storyline came out of nowhere.

Actually, I think there are planty of cliffhangers - just not all specificially obvious...and I can't wait to see how they're resolved...

Roman - Did what we think happen, happen completely or was it not fully "done?" (Remember Joey's track record of doing things half-assed)
Nikki - It's a momentary thing - what happens long-term, considering all the problems that brought her/them to this point?
Albie - legal charges? and is "someone else" liable for being charged with conspiracy?
Sarah - is it *real* acceptance (remember Barb's feelings) or just, again, a momentary feel-good ending for the season?

(Hope that wasn't a spoiler for anyone)

I actually thought the same thing about Roman because I can't imagine the series without him but you do have the Greens and Albie is getting pretty acceptable.

Also, I thought Sarah was going to take a bullet in a drive by for sure just because of the success of Mama Mia but I guess cable series still have a little bit of respect like indy films and she and her people seem to be using their brains for her future career (as oppossed to the olden goldies David Carusso's crew LOL)

gmr324 03-23-2009 03:27 PM

That show has more action than a NFL Playoff game! I think watching Bill get pulled in 27 directions and stressed out at every turn cured me of the need to have a harem!

True, I thought about it both ways and it could work either way - remember, the Greenes are sicker than Roman ever came close to being (Roman never branded anyone, for example lol). (And I love the way that Hollis ends his phone calls - "Sincerely yours, Hollis Greene lolololol)

lol.

Also, don't forget some of the story lines just getting started --- Barb and her desire to travel overseas (again, trying not to include any spoilers) --- and Margie and her new career :1orglaugh

I'll try like hell to keep this as spoiler free as I can lol.....

Roman- I do believe it did happen the way we saw it, just go back to the compound and remember the mass approval Albie has gotten this season, and the upcoming storylines that are being worked up with _______ and _______ and even ______

Nikki - What BILL did in the end of that scene was DEEP, and revolved DIRECTLY around family and faith, I can NOT see it as being momentary, not in the least, Bill has been struggling with his faith and path this whole season, and after the discussion with Roman I can only think what else is going through his head at this point in the storyline.

Albie - I doubt legal charges will be pursued, he is the son, and the future profit, rest stops aside lol, and don't forget his words to his mother, that alone I feel with skirt any lawsuits.

Sarah - Again, I see this as not momentary going back to my Bill thoughts, his family and sanity is slipping away faster then (Insert corny analogy here) if he did not do what he did he would only bring more hassle then he wanted/needed, and again review his last words on the subject.

Closing thoughts.....

I don't see the greens being involved much next season, just look back to the season finale of The soprano's when the did the sweeping raids with Johnny Sac and his crew, they really had to do that for the same reason they have to do it with Big Love, you can only have so many storylines going on at one time, and UNLESS I missed something these past years, it was NEVER revealed who Roman's sister was until the past few weeks, and honestly that just launches way too many fucked up storylines lol.

Roman is the one true profit, Green is the one true profit, Albie is a wannabe profit, Bill is the profit of his flock just too much going on at one time.

At any rate, I have a few predictions for the next season, but I won't go into them right this moment cause it would include spoilers from last night.

-Loki-

MikeSmoke 03-23-2009 04:18 PM

Hard to tell of course - I do agree that what we saw actually happened. But I also think there's a reason that the Greenes have been more and more involved in this season, and also that we found out about Roman's sister (who's the creepiest of everyone on the show lol).
I agree that what Bill did was deep, etc --- but with him, deep often only lasts as long as the next three crises :1orglaugh --- and when it comes to Nikki, she's the perfect example of how "people never really change."
Albie - true about him and his mother - but don't forget how pissed Bill's brother-in-law is going to be, and I think there will be an all-out effort to charge everyone and anyone chargeable next season lol
Sarah - think you may be right about that one.
No question, a lot of prophets right now --- but remember Bill's actions stemmed from what Roman told him --- and a couple of the others may end up gone for different reasons (again trying to avoid spoilers...this ain't easy lol)

mmcfadden 03-23-2009 04:23 PM

I think after tonight the spoilers can be let out of the bag. HBO is certainly going to replay the episode a bunch.

When Bill and the gang were at the pool doing communion... i've got an idea how next year may develop.

Its cool to see theres alot of interest in the show... it's just a good show with a bunch of obvious and hidden messages.

I'll give ya one more thing to ponder, and it gets right into my main prediction for the next season, spoilers aside....

Roman / Albie / Hollis (for whatever reasons may or may not be 'out of the picture')

Now with that in mind, do you recall the kiss, and the words spoken during that scene, lets assume that the kiss was a passing of "_________" and then with that in mind go to the very last scene of the show, food and drink....

Me thinks the city life will not be much longer, cause greeeeeeeeeeeen acres is the place to beeeeeeee.:pimp

-Loki-

smutnut 03-23-2009 04:28 PM

Okay, then. Next year will be Niki's daughter picking up where Rhonda left off. They'll be a big emphasis on seperation/slash divorce in plural marriage. Sarah will be gone or a non factor and Albie and the Greens will be huge.

Bill may have to take over the compound since he is the most flushed out character yet and his father was the original genuine prophet. I can never tell when Bill is being sincere or has another agenda going. This is a great developed lead character for a series.

MikeSmoke 03-23-2009 04:30 PM

It's certainly possible --- but somehow I don't see it --- remember, the talk at the pool was of a *new* church, so not sure how that fits in with Green Acres :winkwink:

Yeah, deff, but I just keep remembering all the talk from Bill's mom over the entire run how they never should have been removed, and the entire reason why Frank kicked Bill off the compound, it would DEFF make it a whole diff show if it played out this way, but in a way it would make perfect sence.

-Loki-

MikeSmoke 03-24-2009 02:32 PM

No question it would certainly be an extremely interesting twist --- I don't see it happening but it's the mark of a good show that there can be speculation like this between seasons :thumbsup
