Is it normal to not remember most of your childhood/teenage years?

I think back, and I don't remember much before the age of 16. Even major events are a complete blank to me. It's not that I don't want to remember - I just draw a blank. When people ask me about things we used to do as kids, I barely remember THEM let alone the things we did.

Anyone else have this? Is it normal or am I going braindead?

I have memories as early as about 14 months old.

I have early memories, basicly because I'm still in my teen years..

hehehe totally! Those guys who made fun of you in grade 3, the girl who everyone said was a slut in grade 7, the next door kid who went to private school... they're all on Facebook, waiting to be your "friend." ugh.

It is basically the same for me....... I have always wondered if that was normal or not myself..... I have some memories from when I was a kid but they are pretty hazy. Of course some big events stick out but in general there is not much there. Perhaps I am just repressing the trauma of not getting laid until I was 17? :)

it is normal for the brain to remember happy and exciting moments especially.
usually boring and negative emotions/experiences are repressed and dumped in a "black hole"...
guees you could have had a boring childhood... could be all but i would definitively check with a doctor if you dont remember anything...
unless you smoke tons of weed ofcourse.

Jade509 03-26-2009 11:21 AM

No it's not normal

_Richard_ 03-26-2009 11:35 AM

you need to think around the block.. so instead of thinking about your 13th birthday, try and remember situations around that time
