How long did it take you to make your first sale?

Hey all, saw this on another forum and was wondering how long it took some of you guys. The responses weren't too consistent on the other forum... some cats were pushing a year, some a week...

So, Interested in what you all have to say :)

papill0n 03-26-2009 11:10 PM

When I started it took me about a week to get a sale :)

Puremeds-J 03-26-2009 11:12 PM

when I started in this business over 12 years ago I knew absolutely nothing about web design, advertising or anything business related so it took awhile to make my very first sale. I had to learn EVERYTHING in one shot while hoping to make some $. So lets say roughly 6 months.

Adam_M 03-26-2009 11:19 PM

Still waiting :(

Barefootsies 03-26-2009 11:27 PM

All depends on 'first sale'.

If you mean from the very beginning of my online career. I wanna say it took 3 days to a week on my 1st membership celebrity site.

However, when I went into adult full time producing my own shit, and launching sites. I wanna say it took a few minutes to an hour. Keep in mind, this was launching via clip store. Back then, clips4sale was more of a feet, and fetish niche site. When you updated, you hit the front page, and stayed there for a few hours. You could do a lot of money just off a front page 'pop'.

So we'll say within the hour for first site, via clip sale.

When I launched subsequent sites (clip store first, pay site later as laid out in TUTORIAL) they may have taken a few hours for first sale.

This is why I love doing the clips4sale, followed by pay site tactic. I could get sales right a way. Watermark my clips with a domain for pay site to launch later. I point domain at clip store, and then when I launch pay site later. Tada. Already had customers and traffic.

:thumbsup

I saved your clips for cash tutorial Barefootsies, great info there.

Id be all over that if I were shooting content, I hope to... But probably too soon :)

wheat 03-26-2009 11:42 PM

My first sale took me about two weeks, and it came from this gallery in 2006.

2012 03-26-2009 11:43 PM

the day they plugged in my site to adult check ... then I quit.

It took me about a fortnight to make my first affiliate sale, that would be way back in the last quarter of '06.

420 03-27-2009 12:03 AM

6 years 2 weeks 1 day

Paul Markham 03-27-2009 12:12 AM

Astral Blue Retro Porn Videos got sign ups from day one without a lot of promoting. I had been posting on a few surfers boards.

Paul Markham Teens was also very fast, but had affiliates lined up and ready for that one.

As an affiliate selling from inside the site it was also pretty fast.

2 days -> http://admin.teenrevenue.com/cgi/cli...te=4&program=2

mynameisjim 03-27-2009 12:21 AM

In adult, about two weeks. I started just around 2 years ago but I had been selling online for some time.

First sale was with Grooby then about 30 minutes later I got a FTV sign up. Still two of my best sponsors.

Marshal 03-27-2009 12:29 AM

i had my first sale like three months after submitting my first gallery... then found out blogs and made a sale in a week since my first post... :)

BeaverJoe 03-27-2009 12:41 AM

just a few days

CrazyHunk 03-27-2009 12:44 AM

Over an year but then the next year I had like $2000 in sales and then last year no sales again... have to see if I'll get any this year :)

tabasco 03-27-2009 12:59 AM

I remember making some stupid fake TPG out of Perfect Gonzo FHGs and some fucking how got listed on Perian Kitty. I din't know what the fuck I was doing but I got 3 sales in two days! That $120 was double what I had earned in adsense that I was dabbling in for the previous couple of months so I was exited. I then moved onto blogs had a slow and steady increase in sales. I was still working a full time job at the time but with 7 months of those first sales I quit my job and turned pro. :)

Libertine 03-27-2009 01:01 AM

About a year. Before that, I had only been using pay per click sponsors. Back then, those paid $0.25 per click... ah, the good old days.

umbralui 03-27-2009 01:16 AM

few days...

wizzart 03-27-2009 02:28 AM

about 20 days, and my first sale was 99,98$ and get free ePass card :)

Roald 03-27-2009 02:52 AM

within a week or so with ARS late 99

polish_aristocrat 03-27-2009 02:55 AM

I don't think you could even optimize a site for the term "porn site that will accept visa card immediately" and make 25 cents/click in 2009.

HB|Sergio 03-27-2009 03:07 AM

about one week i think

Yeah, I've been keeping track of of the signup dates of all the posters, and I know time is very relevant in this field. Just curious :)

master_design 03-27-2009 03:45 AM

After 1 week!

prezzz 03-27-2009 04:00 AM

No longer than 2 days, on a free host, from a gallery with some of the cheapest non-exclusive content. But it was back in '97...

Quagmire 03-27-2009 04:36 AM

I got mine about 3-4 days in from a domain forward.

BVF 03-27-2009 04:41 AM

I had a large Yahoo club at the time so I sent an email to the group as soon as my ccbill account went live....

I had my first sale within an hour.

Nicky 03-27-2009 04:43 AM

Took me about 2 day's, started submitting galleries on a freehost (sexshare)

FrozenJag 03-27-2009 05:45 AM

I started oct. 2006 and it took me about 4 months id say.

My first site was completely worthless but once I figured it out a little better then it was about 1 month before my first sale.

Once I got my first one the 2nd came quickly, the 3rd even quicker, and so on.

Rakie 03-27-2009 11:26 AM

Cool, nice stories. I wonder how long it would take somebody starting now with the tube problems and such.

Yeah, this was back in '98, I think. And those 25 cents per click were actually for blind traffic :1orglaugh

IllTestYourGirls 03-27-2009 11:33 AM

I started in 2007. Took me a couple of months. At that time I was only submitting a gallery every few days to the hun. So I submitted and then waited. Easiest money I have ever made. I am rag to riches. I came in with zero investment woot!

Rakie 03-27-2009 12:32 PM

Always nice to see how people start :)

fuzebox 03-27-2009 12:46 PM

I was pretty directionless and had no idea what a gallery, tgp, link list, whatever was... Took me a 2 months to make my first sale and almost a year to get to the point where I had at least a sale a day...

I did quit my dayjob within 2 weeks of that first sale though :winkwink: Most my income after that came from freelance programming for adult companies for a few years...

Ross 03-27-2009 12:49 PM

6 hours. Then 4 hours later I got another sale. Then nothing for 24 hours then I remember sales started rolling in. Was exciting times back in 2003. :)

kowalsky 03-27-2009 01:32 PM

I donīt remember, but it was really fast. It was in 2001, sales were quite easy then...

SarahLLO 03-27-2009 09:12 PM

Mid-2006, and it was within a day or two of getting my blog up. It was one of those $100 promo Cams.com sales, before I knew about revshare and better cams sponsors ;)

Iron Fist 03-27-2009 09:16 PM

6 years and almost there I can feel it.. this weekend might be lucky!

collegeboobies 03-27-2009 09:18 PM

I dont remember , my first sale was over 12 years ago, working on my 2nd sale now

.:R I O:. 03-28-2009 01:03 AM

hmm, depend on how big sales. I made a 0.51$ sale after sites established only 2 days. lol
