Unfortunately you're probably right, but it would still be a very cool toy!

Not as safe to drive as a real car, but probably a bit safer than a motorcycle.

IllTestYourGirls 03-29-2009 03:25 PM

I would buy one

i guess we are both right: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_1-litre_car

they seem to have it announced last year for 2010 - but i read lots of car mags from germany and there's no sign that it really will come.

we'll see...

why the fuck are all fuel efficient cars (on the market or just a concept) so fucking ugly? Sure, they're efficient, but they look like a mentally challenged 2 year old designed it.

if they want they want fuel efficient or non fuel type cars to really sell they will have to make them look better than what they do now.

There's a good amount of small crappy looking cars like the one above that do sell fine in some countries. My guess is this car would never be sold in the USA for varies reasons. One would be that there's got to be some sort of safety requirements and I doubt this thing would ever meet them.

The only affordable car that has become REALITY is Tata Motors' NANO. Hopefully, VW can follow their lead and compete on who can produce CHEAP cars profitably--of course, a lot of industrial, technical, labor, and legal changes need to happen to make this a reality.

Probably because all the good looking stuff adds either weight and/or wind drag to the car.

true, but there are still ways to make it look nice and keep the car weight low.

you should read the article, they say its safe as a GT race car.

but i know - it's small so it must be unsafe. and the rest of the world has no safety regulations like the almighty US has... <sigh>
