How serious can you take this industry (and therefore this board) when it does not take itself seriously? When someone asks a serious question half the time they are mocked, and when people discuss big problems (like illegal tubes, xsales, 2257, etc.) no one seems to give a shit. Everyone just complains and complains (myself included), while we watch all of our sales dry up.
When you point these points out, you are told to adapt, or to get the fuck out, or whatever. No one looks forward to where this is all heading - everyone just lives for the day, and looks out for number 1, period.
The adult industry is a joke right now. Everything is free, and if it's not free, then surfers are leary to use a credit card, for fear they will be ripped off, or tracked by some big brothery entity that will cause them trouble down the line.
The FSC did not fight 2257 enough to make it feel remotely comfortable to be in adult, and the big tube sites, who show whatever the fuck they want, have no none to answer to!
As long as porn is now free, it is tough to take anything seriously in this biz, as the most "reputable" people on this board, are all involved with the tubes now (for example) which just discredits whatever clout they ever even had to begin with.
In a few short years the industry will evolve into live, interactive, hi-res, webcam shows, which will incorporate robotic, sensory devices, and perhaps goggles of some sort, and the idea of wacking it to low-end movies will be history - just like newspapers and magazines of today.
In other words; safe sex online, without the complications of real relationships or disease.
We are riding the tail end of the comet right now, and the big players know it, so they are not giving a shit about the biz as it stands now. Xsell whenever they get a credit card, build up traffic on illegal content, and just sit back and wait for the new webcam/safe sex world to take shape - or get/steal whatever they can during the end, and get out completely.
My 2 cents anyway...
