US has already stated they won't shoot it down whatever it supposed to be.

No... I saw a report on it yesterday that said the payload has been confirmed as a commercial satellite. We have a policy of not shooting those down... the concern is the missile itself... but in reality we are stoned to think that these other countries (especially one with close ties to China) wouldn't develop long range missile capability.

but if that things goes anyway "off course" it will give US reason to shoot it down |

they will shoot it down if it goes off course and near something it shouldnt
they have said as much so far. |
Yep, if it trespasses US air territory, they'll shoot it down!
|
this is far too good of an opportunity to test our toys for us to ignore it :2 cents:
I wouldn't be surprised if that North Korean missle had a "malfunction" in flight :winkwink: |

Japan recently mobilized its missile defense system -- an unprecedented step -- in response to the planned North Korean launch, Japanese officials said.
The move, noteworthy for a country with a pacifist constitution, is aimed at shooting down any debris from the launch that might fall into Japanese territory. In a concurrent response, U.S. Navy ships capable of shooting down ballistic missiles are being moved to the Sea of Japan, a Navy spokesman said Thursday. Gates said that the U.S. military could shoot down "an aberrant missile, one that was headed for Hawaii ... or something like that, we might consider it, but I don't think we have any plans to (do) anything like that at this point." |

I think I can get it with my sling shot if it can make it out of North Korean air space.

I actually can't believe North Korea is grouped with the Muslims as being enemies of America, but I don't have all the facts.
I also can't believe they are so concerned over sending a Nuke skyward when they can't afford to feed their own people or buy toilet paper, but again I don't have all the facts. |

you "can't believe it" and that's exactly why these people keep rising up and threatening the world. Clinton was very close to bombing them in the 90's. the entire world has tried to help them and their only response is "fuck you, send us food and money or we'll consider it an act of war". the UN, US, China, Russia, Japan etc has tried to work with them for almost 2 decades to stop them from starting a nuclear weapons program, they've broken agreement after agreement and do absolutely nothing but threaten the world. before people start the BS about a missiles range... you might consider that one of this countries main sources of hard currency is weapons exports and they don't give a shit who gets them. |

I think the general plan in my opinion is , no country is taken seriously without nukes. Once you have nukes , all the other countries have an obligation to keep your country stable. So plan #1 is get nukes. they are a small country and even with great advances it would take a long time unless you completely exploit people, so plan #2 is exploit your people. Once the other countries with nukes find out you are making nukes they will stop you , so plan #3 is constantly overstate you nuclear ability/threat and open and close negotiations until your nukes are done. |

The Iraqi army some 375,000 strong couldn't hold out for more than a few weeks on home turf but somehow the magical Korean army can transport themselves vast distances across oceans and lay the smack down. Again more common sense. Can I ask you a serious question? How old are you? |

While everyone bitches about Iraq and Afghanistan and the amount of money we've spent.... I think you bitches need to look at Korea and how many troops and how much money we've spent there. Currently we have 37k US servicemen (and women) there; Multiply this by fifty fucking years.
North Korea has said if anyone shoots this down it will be an act of war. The US has said that this is a violation of some treaty or whatnot no matter what it is, and that we will shoot it down. Sweet. Let's finally get this party started. |

Well said. |

But seriously.... Most of the troops from North Korea would instantly change sides once they figure out that South Korea doesn't live off of government rice (which ironically is supplied by the US). |
