Getting into porn industry. Need your advice.

Hey guys I need your advice. I'm starting in the adult industry - on the business side, not as an actor or producer - mainly to learn more about the industry and the business. What are the top 5 adult companies to work for? Hustler and Playboy comes to mind as they're both well established companies with proven track records. But I would also consider companies like Voyeur Media and Lethal Hardcore.

I'd like to hear from people close to the industry.

HorseShit 03-30-2009 05:18 PM

i doubt any are hiring unless you know your stuff, which you don't

Bored 03-30-2009 05:20 PM

thats a fairly vague question. There are a lot of great companies out there each with their own pros and cons

OK. Great. Thanks. But which are the top 5 companies to work for? Do you have a clue?

Meeper 03-30-2009 05:35 PM

Gotta agree with jdavis, its pretty hard to get hired onto a bigger company unless you know your stuff. Welcome to the industry, and good luck! :winkwink:

Sin 03-30-2009 05:36 PM

Nobody here has any clues.

It depends on the niche you want to work in. Playboy is good if you want tasteful nudity. Hustler is great of you want more erotic. Wicked Pictures is good if you want to work in XXX behind the scenes. First thing you need to learn is there are different levels of adult. Also most of the big companies are not going to hire you unless you know what you are doing. :thumbsup

I know a lot of factors make a company the "best" or one of the "better" companies to work for. But lets say based on reputation, and quality of products.

BrandonK 03-30-2009 05:40 PM

Thanks, JaneB.

Glad to know that producers are not considered "on the business side."

I guess I do this as a joke.

If I had all the answers already, I wouldn't be on GFY. Apparently you don't have a clue either.

BTW, is Taco Bell hiring?

If you are wanting to get into adult, it is best not to fight with people already in it. Aaron does a lot of shit. :winkwink:

Look. We can do this all day. But that's not why posted on this board. I honestly thought this was one of the better boards, with real insiders. Maybe I was wrong.

No need to get hostile. Respect.

Use the search feature and try posting in the Q & A forum.

No offense meant to either company but this comment is not exactly accurate these days:

"Hustler and Playboy comes to mind as they're both well established companies with proven track records."

Track records change based on many things...Including the stock market.

You insulted me, I replied with sarcasm.

Nobody asked you to roll over but you may want to consider the position you are in, the goal you have in mind, the people you are asking for help, and the way in which you are going about it all. :2 cents:

Wow Dude!!

You need to read up on what you want to do and gather your questions intelligently. Everybody that is on this thread is somebody that really know there shit on one or more aspects of this business.

Not trying to be a Dick, but your question is like asking "where is Earth? and which way do i go to find it?"

This business is very complex and very competitive. If you think you are gonna get into SEO ur competing with Airick. If you think you are gonna build websites ur competing with a bunch of dudes. And if your gonna shoot content you get to compete with me, Arron M, Jim Gunn, Vid Vicious etc.

Good luck with your endeavors.:thumbsup

AaliyahLove 03-30-2009 06:18 PM

Reminds me of the 10 emails I get a day that say something like "Hi, I want to be a pornstar, I have a big dick. Can you give me the info of the top 5 sites and top 5 producers to work for?"
I never even know where to start or what to say so I just delete them without replying at all hehe

If it's that obvious to you that I don't have a clue, then you really shouldn't be insulted by the whole "producer" thing. That wasn't my intent. I think the stupid questions are the ones I don't ask. If I already knew the answers I wouldn't be asking for my benefit.

Thanks for your advice.

Clueless is one thing. You were corrected on that and I did so using sarcasm as a source of humor, not as a return insult. It's not so much that you truly insulted me, but you did toss out a very generic statement which could insult a lot of people who take their business seriously simply because you labeled them as less than professional by suggesting they were not "on the business side."

Well, BrandonK, judging from your responses in the rest of this thread...you have just flunked your 1st interview with Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, Vivid, Evil Angel, AVN, Wicked, Xbiz and any other of the major porn companies that are on this board regularly:Oh crap

I suggest you have this thread deleted before the rest of the companies find it or you will have little chance at all in getting with any company:2 cents:

Good Luck:thumbsup

Killswitch - BANNED FOR LIFE 03-30-2009 06:31 PM

This thread is a fucking trainwreck.

Word of advice, don't insult the people who you expect to feed you with what you need... :2 cents:

I don't have any contacts over at Evil Angel but I've already done Brandon the favor of sending an email to the other companies directing them to this thread. I like to help people out like that. :winkwink:

Maybe you can cover the Evil Angel one for him too? :glugglug

qxm 03-30-2009 06:38 PM

... The best way to go about it would be telling what you are good at and based on your qualifications people MAY be able to provide a better answers with less sarcasm....

If you are trying to get into the top 5 companies in adult you MUST have talent at the top 5 level so that they will even consider you. Think about it .. these are people who already made it in the industry (hence the industry leader title) ... so they already have the best SEO, content producer, etc contacts.... what do u have to offer? Why would they be interested in hiring you seeing as tho as you may not know much about adult?

BrandonK 03-30-2009 06:38 PM

Cool. Now we're getting somewhere. Maybe I should have said "behind the scenes" instead? I think most people who want to get into the adult industry want to be porn stars. That's not my area of interest. I'm thinking of it as a dynamic, competitive industry and I'm willing to start at the bottom, behind the scenes.

Thanks again.
