It is riot day in London

The G20 protests are kicking off. The media will be disappointed if at least one banker isn't killed and his head placed on a spike on Tower Bridge. We are getting some close ups of people pushing and shoving cops and it isn't even noon yet.

The daily politics show (was watching PMQs) said that some bankers were waving tenners at the protesters. Red flag..bulls come to mind.

halfpint 04-01-2009 05:04 AM

The protesters in London are calling for a revolution.. they have boarded up shops and banks... Its def hotting hot 11 people have been arested for having police uniforms

Blazed 04-01-2009 05:05 AM

Yeah it is pretty sad really, but it seems to have worked because apparently it is riot day :upsidedow A few thousand hippies and a few idiots and a couple of arrests. Big deal there is a lot more trouble in any town center on an average Friday/Saturday night.

Fletch XXX 04-01-2009 05:15 AM

hoods up.

pornguy 04-01-2009 05:33 AM

They need to have a tea party.

halfpint 04-01-2009 05:36 AM

They are smashing the windows of the RBS and are throwing missiles

halfpint 04-01-2009 05:38 AM

looks like they are trying to set it on fire

One of the protesters threw a smoke grenade into the building. They have now got inside it

Martin 04-01-2009 06:00 AM

Nice, I love it..

Blazed 04-01-2009 06:05 AM

Lol at that protestor thought there was 500,000 protestors when there is less than 10,000. Most of these guys are angry at their own failings, that they are poor and broke and want someone to blame. The banks fucked up but so did most of the population. You lost your shitty job boo hoo maybe you shouldnt of racked up 20k debt on your credit card and got a mortgage you couldnt afford.

Sarah_Jayne 04-01-2009 06:08 AM

Getting a bit ugly now..have one of the reporters that has previously covered Iraq down on what he actually called 'the front line'

Sarah_Jayne 04-01-2009 06:10 AM

I actually feel bad for the old guys that I saw that came early today so that they could protest about their pensions and savings being trashed by interest rates. They came early so that they could miss what they called 'the trouble makers'. They can't protest without the fear of danger from those that just want an excuse to riot.

Note my comment about the media in my first post. As I see it, this is the sort of thing that does causes flashes because you have on one hand that small group of protesters that are are just always looking for a reason to get violent. Then on the other hand, you have the media hyping up the fact that such people are on the protest. So, in the end the violent types almost feel as if they don't 'bring it' they are backing down in the heat and the media feel like they have wasted coverage if something doesn't kick off.

Yeah..the first reporter I heard covering that actually started laughing.

DatingGameExpert 04-01-2009 06:16 AM

Whatever. When are people going to learn that protesting anything like this, MDonalds etc isn't going to change shit? This isn't the 1960's anymore.

Jman 04-01-2009 06:25 AM

After seeing the riots we have over a hockey game I would love to volunteer for the anti riot gang and have a green light to kick a shitload of dumbass's ass.

I don't get why people get off on breaking other peoples stuff and properties.

delirious 04-01-2009 06:44 AM

I wonder why it's always the lefties/liberals/antis who have to protest or have the time to show up, could it be because the ones who aren't are busy working hard trying to be successful or continue being successful?

delirious 04-01-2009 06:46 AM

When Americans get angry, they get on talk radio stations and VOICE their anger and utilize freedom and free-speech.

When Europeans get angry, they go out and cause VIOLENCE, riot, damage and destroy private & public property.

CaptainHowdy 04-01-2009 06:50 AM

I love riots...

There are plenty of liberals who would never do such a thing. I consider myself liberal and I have nothing much at all in common with these people.

LOL Tell that to those of us in Compton or Detroit.

Stephen McTowelie 04-01-2009 07:56 AM

I was watching the news earlier and it seems alot of the people on the front-line are journos anyway prob just causing trouble.

Blazed 04-01-2009 08:09 AM

Hopefully it really kicks off later. So many of these dropouts are just asking for a beating, you gotta admire the restraint being shown by the police.

This is true actually. Everyone a few years ago seemed to like to brag to people about how much their house cost. People on low wages boasting about how they have managed to get such an expensive house.

It was clear then people were taking on much more than they could afford. Now, they want to blame others since they can't afford to make the payments.

The banks/government are still assholes though...

Tell you..I am glad I don't commute into the city any more. For a while I got my train in and out of Cannon Street which is right in the heart of The City. I bet that is a nightmare commute today.

Violence and terrorism always help get you what you want. umm.. right?

Sometimes you just have no option but to mutter "idiots" and get on with your day.

I do agree with that upto a certain point but the problem is both the banks and the people who took all this credit are to blame!
The banks have been helped out and given tons of cash for what ?
Where as these people who could actually afford their mortgages are fucked and wont get any help from the government.

You're worried about a little clean up bill? What about the billions of your tax dollars being handed over to these blood sucking bankers?
