Yes, Sarah if you go to Africa and tour villages and talk about land mines and aids no one will care. Diana however put the spotlight on children worldwide and did a lot to bring attention, money and action to the issues. She wasn't a saint. She did just as much for herself as she did for anybody else. Which is not to say she didn't do good things but she wasn't the saintly creature that people are trying to write into history.

I agree with your point. I think that people are just maybe easily impressed when people of means and power do anything of good for others out of compassion as many times they do very little without some kind of ROI for themselves. I personally believe her actions were out of compassion. And I am by no means a Diana fanatic.

Since she has been First Lady for all of 2 months, let give her some time and see what happens. She definately has the opportunity to do a lot of good, hopefully she will take advantage of that.

What I found so amusing is how cable news networks for a few days prior to the visit wer saying how this was michelles first visit abroad, and how england and europe and the whole world loves Michelle!

A few days of this, then the visit happens, everything is nice, a few agenda points are ticked off by the news.. And then the same networks have various affiliated style and fashion journalists on to be interviewed, and they pose the puzzling question.. why are people so fascinated by Michelle Obama. :1orglaugh

The only thing left in this predictable game is the plateau and then the take down. The build up is all done, put a bow on it.

Yet again a few months after she died Mother Theresa passed away and she was barely mentioned in the press.

Diana was no saint! Sure she did a lot of good, and I am sorry that she died so young - nobody really deserves that (except for rapists, murderers, and other scam), but it's funny how people felt sorry for her that she married the prince who (OMG!?) didn't love and all that crap - seriously, was she fucking retarded to notice that he didn't give a flying fuck about her, or may be she didn't really care.
