Is there anything else you could be doing in life and enjoying it as much as this?

I guess most will answer "nope", but I'm curious to hear from those who would have a "yes" answer....

or, in other words, if you quit online porn because you wanted (and not because you had to), what else would you be doing, assuming you wouldn't be retired yet?

Raf1 04-06-2009 07:19 AM

online porn work hasn't been enjoyable for a long time. It was interesting a few years ago, but I'm only in this business now to earn some extra money.

Radio broadcasting... I actually went to college for it and did it for a while, but the sad truth is that unless you do it for a long time and move yourself into a 'drive' show in a city, you'll just never make very good money in it.

So I moved on.

Smut peddler.

I honestly don't know because if there is I haven't tried it yet and you get to a certain point where jumping to try to do something else looks and feels like a bigger and bigger risk.

I was station manager for my college radio station, worked in commerical radio first as an internship, and then was asked to stay on. However there is just no money in it unless you are at the top market or owner.

Same for music end. I interned with Polygram for a summer in college as well. Fucking kick ass, eye opening experience. But unless you are a mid to high level piece of the pie. No money.

If I was not doing porn, although I enjoy my niche and markets so it is really not work, and still profitable. I would spend more time building up my music network. That is the long term goal and crown jewel for online.

For offline, I would want to own a golf course, and dance/night club. All three of those are on the radar for the 5-15 year plan.
:2 cents:

That's kinda the same for me. I wouldn't say it's not enjoyable, but it isn't as interesting as it was to me when i first started. It's always worth reminding yourself that it could be much worse. I do when i'm having a bad day...

thundergasm 04-06-2009 10:32 AM

I really like this line of business as it affords me to follow my own schedule and there is always something to learn........as frustrating sometimes as it is.

Offline would be a personal trainer. I need to certification, but with the baby boomers getting up there I think there is a niche to be filled. Those older folks are more active than their parents and are looking for ways to stay fit and do the things they enjoy with their extra time. Even in down times many of these folks still have the money to spend on training.

If I quit the outsourcing/mainstream content business, I'd go into organic farming and open a pizzeria (where I serve food grown on my farm).

interesting. I wonder how you'd do $$$-wise in such a totally different industry.

UFGators2007 04-07-2009 11:15 AM

In the past it was a ton of fun, but now I do it only for the money. The amusement of it all has faded.

Klen 04-07-2009 11:21 AM

You mean occupation/job which would bring same joy as being adult webmaster ?

Antonio 04-07-2009 12:40 PM

I did 100 jobs in my life, but the most fun I had when I was working in coffee shops, bars, etc. It might sound retarded, but if you ever watch "Kitchen Confidential" you'll get what I mean.

Farang 04-07-2009 01:05 PM

Running a strip club :thumbsup

I've taken steps to find out. Starting out way way small. Hoping to replicate any success on the micro level to incrementally larger scales. Learned the approach from experiences with online businesses.

Yup

BTW if you have Cinemax watch Jerusalema (I think they are still showing it), I don't think that even one part of that movie was fiction, pretty good stuff.

Probably a good thing you did not. I always suggest that when picking a career you pick one you can spell. :winkwink:

If I had to do it all over again and could not do adult I would have to go with law.

Same here, I want a ranch or farm in Nor Cal. I could easily run a nursery or something too, but I don't think I am social enough to do the restaurant thing.

CarlosTheGaucho 04-08-2009 10:28 AM

Although some might say the non conform part of the job is good, it's rather annoying to me at times.

I never wanted to be in this "industry", but I was just so overwhelmed and fascinated by the potential I saw, that I applied directly to the main investor and climbed the ladder ever since, four week ago I practically took over control over the joint, which is a huge challenge for someone in my age, but so far so good and the results are there.

I remember my main goals during the interview at that time were:

a) rebuild the whole online from the scratch to be accessible for the best market out there - US and to affiliates (in progress, bigsisterlive.com plus new sponsor program first term of announcement this May)

At this point, US and CAN is already dominant nationalities among the members of bigsisterlive.com.

b) get the content to TV networks - not easy at all, not bad money, but tough to close them, very much closed company and plenty of clientelism,

so far deals in Italy, UK and Ireland, finally seems that I also found an experienced and reliable person, to help with licensing in US and in general, as I want to totally focus on online.

Numbers are the only thing that matter now, and the moving part is rather annoying, not that many business people you would consider totally trusting after those years too.

So, in the ideal case, I want to grow this to add on value (which I totally believe in, as the proliferation of the free general porn is a competitive advantage to our product), then be a part of the selling process (not this easy because it's a real estate and complex etc., of course I'm not the majority shareholder) and dedicate myself to something, that I always wanted to do - mainstream entertainment.

I'm actually launching my first review network with not too popular, but interesting movies/ music / books review sites in May as a first step and as a reference.

As crazy and totally non financially interesting this may sound, I already have a plan how to mix making money out of the super pop music that's in vogue, and at the same time to support say not "good" as it's entirely subjective, but in any case not over promoted music.

Ozarkz 04-08-2009 10:29 AM

I don't shoot/produce porn content so yes their is lots more I could be doing and enjoying as much/more than what I currently do.
