Is This A Smart Or Dumbass Thing To Do?
 

Howdy,
Should we put some of our video clips out there (that contain our URL watermark) for the masses to download? We have buttloads of content, so a few giveaways won't hurt us...but do you think it will actually result in people seeing the URL and then going to the site (and, hopefully, buying too)? I was thinking of a real, full, beginning to moneyshot clip...not a teaser.
If this would be a prudent course to take, my next question is where should we do this? Bit torrent sites? Tube sites? Which ones are best (our content is both gay and straight)?

The link will be seen that's for sure, and if you have quality content than it shouldn't be a problem people will come to your site, do a bit research about viral marketing and making brand of your site! share such clips via torrents and tubes, don't give full length movies, just teasers cause you want people to join your program... to intrigue their imagination etc...

IMO, No teasers eighter, these days, ppl will skip the teasers and go straight for the long clips / scenes, so maybe for example one scene outa every full lenght movie / DVD 10 to 15 min. long etc.. etc.. watermarked, ofcourse... :2 cents:

thanks again, empty. no matter what i do i can never get a torrent to upload/seed. i can download other's stuff just fine, but getting my own content on any of the sites never works. i've tried gay-torrents and piratebay using utorrent and it's a bust every time. i'm very computer savvy (been doing this since '94) and i just keep missing something for some odd reason. regardless, i'll check out the tube sites you mentioned :)

i might take something back....it looks like the piratebay one might actually be uploading/seeding now. i'll have to analyze to see what i did or did not do consistently.

I don't think it is ever a bad idea to give people a sample of what they will get before breaking out their wallet but as far as offering them full length videos? I don't think I wouild give away full length videos. I mean, a few will not hurt (depending on how much content you have) but for the most part, I would stick to giving away sample clips. You should create promo galleries with sample clips and promote them across the web yourself as well as getting affiliates to promote them too. Make sure that you have a banner link leading to your site so that if the surfer want's to see where the video came from, all they need to do is click onto the banner to be taken to your site. And even if they do not check out your site right away, whenever they view the video, they will always see the watermark representing where the video came from. If they like it that much, sooner or later they will check out your site.

There are many ways of getting your content out to the surfers (and I have various ways of marketing my stuff) but I get alot of sales through the promotion of my promo galleries...so that is what I would do if I were you.

taking back my taking back :) i can't get a damn thing to seed on any torrent site using any torrent software. what an odd thing that i can't figure this out.

posting videos with watermark helps too much i have experience of it.

Put it this way - either you put up your videos or some dumbfuck hacker/pirate will do it for you. The only difference is that if you upload them to the web you can put your watermarked URL onto all of them.

I see it as good publicity (as long as the content is good), it can never be bad to have your url being seen by the masses.
