Why do people watch these stupid shows on The History Channel?

Like Monster Quest or UFO Hunters? Every show is the same, all fluff, no substance and never ever any evidence whatsoever. It's like watching softcore porn. pffff

Sly 04-15-2009 06:38 PM

It's interesting to the people that want to believe...

Elli 04-15-2009 06:42 PM

Hey, the Monster Quest about the monster squid was awesome :)

the.drunk 04-15-2009 06:54 PM

gives them something to talk about

AJHall 04-15-2009 07:09 PM

You watch because the 1 time you miss the show will be the time that they actually find the monster or the alien.

Serge Litehead 04-15-2009 07:16 PM

its sad that History and Discovery is taking the same path as MTV did sometime ago - away from their subjects

OY 04-15-2009 07:18 PM

I watched Predator X the other day on HC and it was very interesting and for sure "HISTORY".

Love their shows.

RadiantX 04-15-2009 07:19 PM

i love those shows :)

Nonsense! MTV plays some music in between scenes of their dangerous-to-your-brain shows!

sortie 04-15-2009 08:49 PM

It's there and it's free.

Free? Why do we keep getting these Time Warner bills then? :winkwink::1orglaugh

I guess every channel has its good and bad programs. Some more than others. :Oh crap

Hotrocket 04-15-2009 09:14 PM

How do you KNOW every show is always the same unless you are watching them yourself? lol

abadfish 04-15-2009 09:15 PM

I wonder that too... I'll catch myself watching these shows at times and the narrator will build up suspense and I will sit through a commercial but deep inside I know that they aren't going to solve anything because I would have heard of it by now. :)

I love Modern Marvels. That show kicks ass.

shahab6 04-15-2009 09:20 PM

because they have no life and don't have anything better to do

bausch 04-15-2009 09:22 PM

I don't like the history channel, it sucks and is boring.

Oh, I thought that bill was for the internet plus cross sales! My bad. :1orglaugh

Most of the responses in this thread are pretty ignorant, as usual, but the OP is right about UFO Hunters being all fluff and having no substance. If you are someone who truly wants to learn about Ufology then the UFO Hunters show is nothing more than a distraction and waste of time.

The History Channel doing UFO documentaries is kind of the same as Fox News having Glenn Beck act like he's leading the truth movement. lol

bausch 04-15-2009 09:31 PM

The only show I watch now is Desperate Housewives. It is the best. I watch 2 hours of it everyday! (recorded on my dvr).

Jim_Gunn 04-15-2009 09:31 PM

The History Channel has a lot of good shows- about history! Those two you named are not among them. But I have been enjoying Battles BC, Warriors, Predator X, The Universe and especially How The Earth Was Made. All great fact-based shows that are really well done.

I don't get why people watch shit like that. It's completely fictional and made up. What is the point? What a waste of time. If you really must be "entertained" then watch a movie or something at least.

I just don't get how people can sit around watching a bunch of actors all day.

hankphone 04-15-2009 09:36 PM

eerr... what?

I'd rather watch that than Golf or Baseball

Yea it annoys me that they add that kinda crap to the history channel. It has nothing to do with history, at least not that type of "drama"show.

The point is to escape from life and to be entertained, plus the show is funny. It has twists and turns and intricate plots.

What I really don't get is why people watch sitcoms, I think that is even more pointless.

Elli 04-15-2009 11:05 PM

My favourite show on History Channel these days is the one where they go under old cities into their underbellies to look at buried ruins, old sewer systems, bunkers, etc. Very cool stuff.

cuz they're funny... and to some, funny is entertaining. duh.

regarding the original topic, I think that the two shows mentioned, Monster Quest and UFO Hunters are not a good example of the channel's offering. I agree, those two shows are crap, but the rest of History Channel's lineup is very interesting to me.

I dig that show, but can't stand the editing. I also can't stand the way the host, in evry episode, is filmed walking very quickly while introducing the segments... fucking silly and annoying to me. lol

collegeboobies 04-15-2009 11:10 PM

yeah those shows suck, but every once in a while a good show comes on

StaceyJo 04-16-2009 12:56 AM

I'd watch Trueblood than that. lol

bobby666 04-16-2009 01:18 AM

seems as i have missed something
