Would you get mad if someone called you "Young Man"?

And you're in your 30's?

Say you're in your 30's and 40's and you walk in somewhere and the help says : "Hello there Young Man, what can I get you?" would you be offended/irritated?

Would you feel patronized, like they aren't taking you seriously?

MindWaste 04-19-2009 11:12 PM

depends soley who is saying it..

WarChild 04-19-2009 11:13 PM

You and MindWaste should get together and have the most fucked up children ever.

2 threads? You need to find a therapist to help you with your insecurity issues.

Its just someone being polite......I see old men/ladies in the supermarket every week and cashiers saying "What can I do today for you Young Sir/lady etc !

Dont take it as anything other than that.:thumbsup

Poindexterity 04-20-2009 12:28 AM

when i was 19, yeah.
i was all "dammit! I'm not young, you fucker! I know what I'm doin!"
now, at 34, it's more "yup, that's me. the young man."

420 04-20-2009 12:38 AM

I'd prefer if you called me sonny.

Paul Markham 04-20-2009 01:47 AM

At my age it's a compliment. :1orglaugh

Sarah_Jayne 04-20-2009 03:54 AM

Take it as long as it lasts. It is when the 30 year olds start calling you 'sir' that you will get more mad.

SpicyM 04-20-2009 03:54 AM

I am happy to be a young man and I like if someone call me that way.. I dont get it.. why the hell would any fucker on this forum want to be old??

Blazed 04-20-2009 03:56 AM

Sounds like that guy who was mad someone was smoking outside his house on here the other day... only in America.

Double trouble 04-20-2009 04:09 AM

I wouldn't even have noticed that I was called "Young Man". Who cares? :)

BlackCrayon 04-20-2009 04:37 AM

to someone who is 70, you are young at that age. i might take a bit of offence if i was a woman and being called young man though.

baddog 04-20-2009 07:13 AM

This confirms that bausch must be the most socially fucked up chick I have ever heard of.

She makes Lizzy Borden seem approachable.

To answer the question, if someone that does not know you says, "may I help you, young lady [since I know this is about you]" then they are probably in their 60's or 70's and you are a young woman to them. At least you look young. Take it as a fucking compliment.

If it is your mother yelling, "now you listen hear, young lady" then it is time for you to spread your fucking wings, and stop dealing with her.

She is miserable. She is making you miserable. You are trying to make us miserable.

If you were not so funny you would likely succeed.

VicD 04-20-2009 08:16 AM

I voted the second option

Agent 488 04-20-2009 08:24 AM

stop stalking her baddog. she might transform into a man and fuck you up.

bausch's insecurity and self esteem issues have been well known and documented on gfy for years now... I don't even know why he's here.

Barefootsies 04-20-2009 08:46 AM

Nope.

Sounds like you have fartfly syndrome.

UFGators2007 04-20-2009 11:26 AM

Depends on who is saying it. But I would prefer being called "young man" anyday over being called "sir" by someone only in their 20s.

Dirty F 04-20-2009 11:34 AM

Your threads are getting weirder and weirder. Ever thought about getting professional help instead of asking strange questions on gfy every day?

I think you have some deep rooted issues if something like that pisses you off.
