Anyone else sick of Susan Boyle?
 

Im so sick of looking at this hideous lady. Sure she has a good voice, but I would have never heard of her if she wasn't hideous. I don't watch american idol or britans got talent. The only reason shes all over the news is because shes old and hideous and has a voice. If she was hot and young she would just be another contestant on the show, and it would have never made the news.

Simon Cowell is a marketing genius. I never watch that show and I am sure most Americans didn't even know it existed. Suddenly his show is a global brand and on the cover of ever paper over here.

Of course, I have to so support fellow 'hideous' people..I still don't care about the show though. What I will say, is that some of my mainstream blogs are getting great traffic when I mention her. So, I will be sick of it when she stops earning me money. Just like Simon Cowell.

So what if she looks horrible, surely you have the ability to deal with that? She has a pretty impressive talent, better than most of the prissy little arrogant manufactured tarts you tend to see on those programs who have a fraction of the skill. Its refreshing to see something seemingly real even if it isn't pretty to look at for a change.

Totally! the difference is that she ISN'T some beautiful, manufactured glam girl she is real, and she will inspire those who aren't perfect, but have talent, to seek out their dreams. People love her because it's inspirational to think about her story.

I agree and think this is why a lot of the media are giving her as much attention as they can :) I think she is a great motivation story.

it got so much attention because EVERYONE expected her to fail miserably, not one person in that building wanted to see anything more than her failing to the fullest when she stepped out on that stage, and she proved them all totally wrong. No one could believe it.

I cried the first time I saw the youtube clip because I was like WOW, this woman is living her dream, and she deserves to have the chance. Not to mention her voice is incredible, better than some I've heard that have trained their entire lives.

what did he have to do with anything other than being as shocked as everyone else that she was talented? ALL the judges admitted they thought she'd be a joke act. What the hell does Simon have to do with any of it aside from his jaw being dropped and blown away that she was good, even if she is ugly.

Yup, Cowell sat down 48 years ago and thought "If I create a horrible looking woman and give her a great voice, I can start a talent show, get her on in the 3rd season and make a fortune!! It's brilliant!"

You sound like the product of a generation that's grown up knowing little more than the superficial, camera-friendly MTV celebrities with dubious talent but lots of Maybeline.

I think its very refreshing to see someone come out, warts and all...and magically transform an audience the way she did.

That's so fuckin true! Rock stars of the '70s were not that much to look at ... they were cool still in my eyes, but not so prettty. MTV changed everything in the early 80's. Even I forget how much so, sometimes.

I don't believe in all this "surprise" shit on programs like that. This is all marketing. They found a strange looking woman who sang incredibly well and used it to get great media hype. That's it.
