Twitter limits follows to 1000

Bad news for hummingbird users and other mass follower software. Here's the breakdown: http://www.kergan.de/archives/allgem...it-on-twitter/

Mr Pheer 04-21-2009 10:08 PM

I guess thats bad news that for that guy on here who said he had 'thousands' of accounts on twitter for his niche :1orglaugh

yes, thanks for catching that. I should have put that in the title for clarity. 1K per day.

PornMD 04-21-2009 10:53 PM

It's because of some of the 20k+ follower people bulk following thousands in a day and unfollowing the next day to bulk follow more. It was major gaming of the system...so that limit should solve that particular issue at least.

Plus all those bots and apps picking away at the poor failwhale's hide:(

collegeboobies 04-21-2009 11:07 PM

lol only 1000. damn thats not too many

Sarah_Jayne 04-22-2009 03:11 AM

I have no problem with that at all. More valuable for both us and them to make the growth natural. Really..have quality followers not rubbish ones that don't mean much at all.

Ace_luffy 04-22-2009 03:13 AM

Omg... .. .

marketsmart 04-22-2009 06:39 AM

you can contact twitter and they will raise your limit if you have a good enough reason.. :2 cents:

Si 04-22-2009 06:45 AM

HummingBird Will still work.

being limited to following 1000 people per day will not make the process any slower or stop it at all.

the software is probably only capable of doing around that amount of people per day anyway.

No Big deal unless you feel the need to follow everyone on twitter......

halfpint 04-22-2009 07:01 AM

Yep I managed to follow 2001 followers now I cant follow anybody else on one of my accounts I thought it was a bug at first :disgust

Quality and twitter seems like an oxymoron. :winkwink:

Consider quality in that context to be similar to filtered traffic. If somebody actively made the choice to follow the twitters of one of my sites they are declaring an actual interest in the theme. If they are spammed into joining they are not worth as much to me.

Magnus 04-22-2009 07:21 AM

Quantity is not all that on Twitter anyway. Most new people signed up cuz Larry king talked about it, and celebs are on it, they will open an account and probably never return. I have 2 community based accounts (1 adult account has 1100 I average 30 new followers daily) and my followers engage and interact, those are the clickers and the buyers.
The volume peeps are doing it for bragging rights and nothing more.

Si 04-22-2009 08:06 AM

I'm going to put this to the test and try to follow 2000 people today.

I'll post what happens.....

cherrylula 04-22-2009 09:50 AM

Ok I won't! :thumbsup

Si 04-22-2009 11:57 AM

I noticed twitter.com has also been online since 2001 apparently.

If thats true, it sure took a long time for it to become popular......

indeed... here what it looked like on March 3rd of 2001 : http://web.archive.org/web/200103021...w.twitter.com/

NoWhErE 04-22-2009 12:34 PM

actually, 5 years ago it was for sale for only 4500$ :P

aniloscash 04-22-2009 12:42 PM

its kind of silly I guess you can just create a few accounts. I predict they will change that. Did I hear Ashton kutcher was the first to get 1 million followers on tweeter? do they just delete 999.000 followers?

Thats interesting!

And someone really missed out on a bargain at $4500

It's got to be worth $200,000,000+ now probably

Your account will get locked. You really shouldn't add more than 200 per day or you'll get flagged.

Fap 04-23-2009 09:14 PM

I thought you were going to say 1,000 followers in total

D Ghost 04-23-2009 09:20 PM

was it unlimited before?

It stopped at 2k and then you could add 10% over the amount that followed you. The limit only effects the big guys.

Edit and the guys who dropped 4k of their following and added another 4k which did work great.
