Designers, quick question ??
When you are making a PSD for a website in photoshop,
What canvas size do you use? 1024 X 768 1152 X 864 OR, 1280 X 1024? Let me know please, thanks :thumbsup |
I usually design in 1280 X whatever.

900x in here mostly
|
968 x whatever
|
1024 is usually my starting point
|
1020px wide*. that leaves a safe 10px buffer on either side of the actual design (coded version is 1000px wide* at most.
*unless designing for widescreen |
I make my canvas MUCH larger than the finished site while designing.
So I can see how the site will look on it's background and so my eye isn't distracted by other stuff around the screen. I design it as if I was looking at it in the browser. I'm not a designer.. So i probably do everything wrong. :) |

Very good tips there, thanks for sharing :thumbsup |
I set my canvas to 2,000px wide, and set guides to see where the center 1,000px sits.
This allows me to make a background that can be seen on high res screens, and then I keep the content within the 1000px which means people on 1024 resolution see no horizontal scroll even though there is more to see beyond that resolution. |
btw, the same principal can obviously be used if you are keeping below 800px with the content, but I almost never do that anymore.

wow, you guys design by splicing still? JUST WOW.. im not a designer so dont mock me.. but splicing? I mean the fucking country with the plague dont splice design anymore
