all blacks rugby dance ritual
I don't watch rugby but this is fucking brilliant :1orglaugh
|
Yeah, saw it for the first time in 2002 during the world cup. Crazy stuff.

Yea its bad ass. Its the Haka Dance, It is what they did before warriors go into battle. THey call the spirits of their ancestors into their bodies and pump themselves up. A movie called "Once were Warriors" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110729/ Bad movie if you like tattoos and crazy shit. New Zealand ftw I wonder if they have the swine flu there haha

Nice video. I just know about Haka.

it's been a part of their game since I can remember. Haven't watched rugby in a while. Nice reminder :)

I wouldn't mess with any mauri guys. Or Samoans for that matter. They make up a large majority of club bouncers here in Sydney.
|
I guess it's all about intimidation

|
that's so cool... I bet the other team was wondering what the hell was going on with those guys :P

I love these dances and always remember watching the Zulu war dance when I lived over in South Africa. It was just awesome to see the Zulu's performing the dance. We named our dog "Sharker" after the Zulu warrior Shaka

heh, I grew up in South Africa, where the jokes are weak and the coffee is strong. Where men are men, and the sheep are nervous. And rugby is THE game over there, the Springboks and the All Blacks legenday rivals. So I sorta grew up with the haka as a consequence. In the old days they used to advance while doing it, most intimidating. That was outlawed after too many fights broke out, so nowadays they just haka on the spot.
The Ozzies turned the tables on them in 2008 (although I must say some of them looked a bit nervous doing it) |
