Verizon, Apple May Be Close To iPhone Deal
 

AT&T would likely be aggressive in retaining the exclusive deal with Apple, however, because it has successfully poached numerous subscribers from rivals before.

Apple and Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless are in "high-level" talks about breaking AT&T (NYSE: T)'s exclusivity regarding the popular iPhone, according to a report by USA Today.

Citing people familiar with the situation, the report said the iPhone could potentially find its way onto Verizon's networks as early as next year. The move would give Apple access to about 80 million new Verizon customers, and it would enable Verizon to stem the tide of subscribers defecting to AT&T to nab Apple's touch-screen smartphone.

ATT network is fucking garbage

Apple is a really nasty company. They could be spreading these rumors to help with renegotiating their deal with ATT next year.

Not to mention, ATT pays Apple about $250 per sign up so they may want to get more.

I have the Verizon Voyager. I love my phone. Makes text messages a breeze.

From my understand Verizon wanted to do a deal with the Iphone, but the fact that you can't fix the battery on the fly caused Verizon to back out of the deal.

Last I heard it will be 2010 when Verizon rolls out their 4g network.

I hope this deal goes through, I've been wanting an iphone but AT&T reception in my area sucks. In the mean time I have a storm which I'm not too happy with..

Sounds good to me. Verizon is supposed to be taking over Alltel here anytime and I'm waiting until they do to pick new phones.

I thought they only had a 2 year exclusivity deal anyway.

The phone lags, I'm having a conversation and let's say I want to press flash; well I have to wait 5-7 sec because the phone is still thinking. The storm freezes at least once a week, the keyboard is nice but even with the click-through-technology it's really hard to get use to. The camera is OK, you never know what you're going to get. I've gotten great pics but when I really need it to work it fails. The browser is fine but again it doesn't have the wifi capabilities the iPhone has. Also, keep in mind I did the software updates.

I find it I had to get use to it only because I have a contract. But as soon as the contract is over I'm changing to a Blackberry bold. I like Verizon and Blackberry, i just don't like the Blackberry storm.

I have a Curve and I like it... works great. CDMA networks are way better than GSM... I can always tell when I am getting a call from someone on a GSM network because the sound quality sucks. I have Alltel and I have to honestly say that I haven't had a single problem with them... I am kind of bummed that Verizon bought them because we dropped Verizon for Alltel due to all of the billing issues that we had with Verizon.
