Whatever Happened to the Guy who Had the Sick Kid People Raised Money For?
I can't think of his name but I remember a few years back a big donation drive for someone who had a kid sick with some rare illness. Raised a lot of money if I remember correctly but haven't heard what happened with it.
Any updates? |
Wasn't his name something like Nobalbal? I forget.

Didn't it turn out to be a lie/scam?
It's kind of funny... I think that's happened a few times now. I don't recall any real legitimate donation threads where the person actually needed help... they've all been scams. Actually I take that back... bjjb needed help, so I bought him a laptop... then he died. :-( RIP. |
Turns out the guy hired a sick kid and then started a donation thread...

this place is a sheep pen where sheep get sheered on a regular basis, really . . . there has to be a board where scammers post gfy as a place with lots of willing suckers, as long as you know what buttons to press in their brains ...

It went something like this.
NoCarrier aftering being a dipshit on the board for a couple of years (I think) posted one day his son had a brain tumour and was going to need a treatment not available in Canada, where he lived, but only in the states and it was going to be very expensive. I don't remember if he actually asked for donations but what I do remember is a whole bunch of people ran out and started a group signature auction. More and more people joined in and some company ended up paying quite a bit, something like $15,000 (not exactly sure of the number anymore) in the end. A little bit of time goes by and he comes back and says that the kid can actually get free treatment in Canada and won't require the operation in the states. He ended up keeping the money to "make life easier" while him and his wife were tending to their sick child being treated in the hospital. He came back many months later and said the kid's okay and blah blah and hasn't been back since. I believe at the time, someone found a newspaper article for the story, and it was even in the same province as he was in, Quebec but the city did not match. Speculation began that he saw the story in a local Quebec paper, adapted it a bit and claimed it was him and his family. I don't know if it was ever proven to be a scam outright, but it was played beautifully. He didn't start the signature auction and I believe he even make a token offer to return the money although was happy to keep it to ease his suffering. |
post photoshopped stats and pictures pulled from flickr and imagefap to show you are an international travelling baller.
always have your icq on and make tons of icq friends of which you share the above stats and travel pics. do some small biz with long term members to establish your trust. "he always paid on time." then do the "i have kidney stones i can't pay my car payment" thing or take payment for a big non-existant link, design or traffic package and disappear. there you go, gfy entrepreneur course 101. |
Anyone who donates thru paypal or other means and not thru a licensed trust fund method which is available for such things deserves the good news that it was a scam and the scammer and his friend(s) are still here being your BRO to this day... they had a extinct GFY handle with loads of posts and played it nicely to suck the greenbacks out of your fools pockets.

That's pretty messed up. Are there any links to him being outed anywhere? I know people suspected it being a rouse but I never saw anyone flat out bust him for it. Pretty shitty thing to do, especially with all the noble causes out there.
|
ahhh nevermind.

damn! :(

I remember donating some change to someone on here once... I think it was so one of you fucks could get married in a super cool wheelchair thingy... heh
|
these donation threads on gfy always have a scam written all over them... :2 cents:

Figured I would find myself in this thread.
I do not hide the topics and discuss it with anyone. Cyberhustler, you would have donated a sig in that case and no actual cash. A company purchased the sigs. Even though I did not start the auction I did benefit from it. Little did I know at the time nor those who started it would be how fucking long the wait list was on the damn chairs. Then of course the auction only got a little past halfway there to the purchase price. When I finally did meet with a rep of the company I learned of some additional issues, primarily that being in order to use the chair I would need to do something about my left leg as it does not bend enough by itself. This has caused me most of my medical issues over the past couple years and my upcoming set of surgeries will get me that much closer to it. I needed to get my body in healthy enough status and find proper set of surgeons to do the necessary surgeries. One of the final ones will be dual amputation, as I spoke about a couple weeks ago. That is still 4-5 procedures away though. I also had to save up the remaining amount (which I did), as well as many of the medical costs that I shall incur. |
What about Hungryman? Was that for real or a scam too?

I also gave to the cancer issue. Got hit hard by Tala. Bought some stuff for the guy with his baby (who was that?). Actually participated in many of the scams as well as legit ones.
As for the legit ones there were several that went to like assorted charities that I also recall. |
