People with lots of PSD files - this is great

Ever been frustrated looking for Photoshop PSD files in Windows Explorer that you can't see a thumbnail of what's actually in the PSD? Up until this morning I would have to go into Photoshop first - not anymore. Here's a simple fix - takes 2 seconds.

Download this file

Mutt 05-12-2009 05:53 AM

gornyhuy 05-12-2009 06:55 AM

I don't get it - even windows 2000 had a thumbnail view that would show PSD content.

Neon Dollars Daniel 05-12-2009 07:05 AM

never used Windows 2000 - but in XP's Explorer I've never seen a thumbnail view of PSD files. i found this in a new post on a design blog.

Yup, Mac's already show the thumbnails if your browsing using the thumbnail option. Great not only for PDF files but also for large image folders. .NEF files. (Raw) so a really nice quick way to look in those folders. Tip.. If you have a mac, Open the folder you want to view the Thumb in, Then select View>Show View Options from the top bar. Then you can make your Icons bigger or smaller, set the spacing , make it a default for all folders etc.

Course, you can also use the cover flow view....

Fuck, Macs rock.

Killswitch - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-12-2009 07:34 AM

Sebastian Sands 05-12-2009 10:19 AM

ACDSEE does that too.. I love browsing in that proggy

TheDA 05-12-2009 10:25 AM

Win XP does that for me now, but some of them are small so I might give it a go. I don't recall adding anything before.

Meeper 05-12-2009 10:28 AM

completely awesome, thanks for the link!

I use adobe bridge these days... you can see everything

Rock It 05-12-2009 04:17 PM

Works great. Its the only thing that I couldnt see.
Wish they had something for jpg and psd for the desk top though instead of the icons..now that would be great!

HomerSimpson 05-12-2009 04:41 PM

this really is a helpful tool!

Penthouse Tony 05-12-2009 04:44 PM

is there one for adobe dng files?

After Shock Media 05-12-2009 05:12 PM

Honestly I never even knew windows explorer did not view them as thumbs. I almost never use windows explorer in the first place. Only time I seem to come close is if a prompt opens it automatically for browsing to upload something or is that something else?
I like some others use Acdsee for all my browsing needs, even if I have no intentions of looking for photos or psd files.

E$_manager 05-12-2009 05:36 PM

usefull thing, thanks for sharing

Deej 05-12-2009 05:39 PM

I didnt know this was a hidden jewel.

Ive had thumbnailed psds for years now.

boudoir 05-12-2009 08:22 PM

ACDSee is the fastest browser for any type of media on Windows. However I migrated to Mac last year so I don't need to use it anymore.

DatingGold 05-12-2009 08:54 PM

Windows sucks..

The Truth Hurts 05-13-2009 05:09 AM
