After all the money Slumdog Millionaire made

They apparently didn't pay shit to the actors.. The kid that played the main star at the start was living in a tent next to a slum and was kicked out with his mother. Guess he damn sure didn't become a millionare..

I read that the parents were being too selective to find a better place.

way less than 10% if they shot in India. Production costs would have been minimal, and there weren't any giant robot battles to run up the special effects budget.

wait for it...that's what unchecked birthrates gets ya!

ADL Colin 05-14-2009 08:59 AM

They coulda got someone for half the amount they paid that kid!

pornguy 05-14-2009 09:09 AM

Nothing new with that

John-ACWM 05-14-2009 09:39 AM

_Richard_ 05-14-2009 09:46 AM

he got a lot. he got world wide recognition and exposure for his skill in his chosen profession

whats the price tag on that if your no one and you want to be famous? how do you get that exposure and what would it cost? $10,000,000? $50,000,000.00?... $100,000,000.00??

i'm thinking he was very well compensated... the question is simply what does he do with that compensation going forward and how does he choose to take advantage of it. if his answer was to just go back to the slums... then he's made his choice.

Iron Fist 05-14-2009 10:29 AM

I wanna know how much they paid the kid to jump into that pool of piss and shit..

SCtyger 05-14-2009 10:39 AM

that little kid was the best actor in the movie. sucks to read this about him.

JFK 05-14-2009 10:53 AM

never watched the movie:2 cents:

mineistaken 05-14-2009 11:03 AM

I read those kids were paid few thousand bucks - and that was more than these kind of actors usually makes their so it was more than fair

The hype put me off going to see it.

Hate seeing films being hyped beyond believe. I'm not doubting it would have been a good movie, but when it came to deciding when to go and see it, i was like "you know, i'm already fed up with it".

Movies do that to me... :winkwink:

CaptainWolfy 05-14-2009 11:55 AM

he need to sue the industry..

Told you this a hundred times, but you are a weirdo. Normal people like the hype. Not you, you see to ALWAYS go against the norm.

I agree with you. By the time I saw this movie I had read and heard a million AMAZING reviews. Everyone and their brother said it was the best movie ever, so with all of the build up it was impossible for it to live up to the expectations.

I generally like to know as little about a movie as possible before I watch it, so I can make my own decisions as to whether it was good or not. The less I know about the plot and the inherent twists and turns, the more fun the movie is for me.

I heard "... if they're blind they make twice as much"

No, i just don't like all the pish that comes with things. Making a huge deal of something just pisses me off. You however sir, are one of the sheep. :)

No its weird to not go see a movie because of "hype"

Thats like not watching an Old Firm game because its hyped up for weeks.

They usually end up pish aswell...

V_RocKs 05-14-2009 12:26 PM

Got paid like any other unknown actor would...

How much do you think George Clooney got for his first pic?

How about Angelina for Gigi?

Well, seeing as the person in question here is a 10 year old kid I think it is more in the hands of his mother. If the kid wants to act she could probably contact the people that made Slumdog and get some advice on how to continue with his career. But it is a tough business. Not only do you have to have the skill for the part, you have to look right for the part. I wonder how many rolls for a 10 year old Indian boy there are out there. I know India itself makes a lot of movies and he could probably get work there, but does his mom know anything about that?

So I don't know it is as simple as him just deciding to go back to the slums.
